wtf?

Pal o' mine went to see Bury v Swindon t'other weekend and the proggy contained the following little teaser:

What was notable about the start of the 1930-31 season for ManUre?

Answer: Their start to the 30/31 season was notable for 12 defeats on the trot [no Fergie time or dodgy ref decisions then + the ball was leather and weighed at least 10kg - or more with mud]. This included 6-0 and 7-4 home defeats by Huddersfield and Newcastle, whilst their first win was on Nov 1st. They went down at the end of that season, and the following campaign saw only 3000 turn up for their first match.

I suspect that the 3000 contained 2999 assorted Florideans and Singaporeans, plus the usual ten million 'Mancs'!

Not many people know that towards the end of the 1933-34 season, ManU were joint bottom of the 2nd Div with Millwall, and they met on the last day of the season. Whoever won would stay up, the losers going down with Lincoln to Div 3 (North or South, as it then was). Alas, Utd won 2-0 and stayed "up" in Div 2.
History, eh?
