I’m sure it’s already been said on here somewhere but in this guy we have a new hero in the mold of mad Mario. The difference is this guy also has the brains and work ethic to make the most of his talent.

Bloody hell todays game has made a natural curmudgeonly old cynic like myself start to actually believe that our manager is about to unleash all kinds of holy hell on staid, boring, “pick the big lad” English football.

History is about to be rewritten. And it’s beautiful, just beautiful to anticipate.

Took them to the cleaners. They set out to defend, catch us on the break but our forwards were marking their defenders from the outset from their goalkeeper, their goalkeeper was thinking what the fucks going on, normally I have time when the opponents sit back but City with Pep's courageous slick tactics kept them on the back foot the entire game, Chelsea looked nervous for 90 minutes and looked relieved at the final whistle to lose only one nil. Pep's doing the business for us. I hope we can persuade him to stay beyond his contract with us and his time with us will become infectious.

loved this in the footy comments section in the Guardian.....

"Hazard & Pedro almost ended up being packed up with the dirty laundry heading back to Manchester. Luckily for them the kitmen heard their squeaks and retrieved them from Delph's pockets!"

Hands up City were quality today I was needlessly worried before the game and have made a mental note to have more faith in the team.

It wasn't too long ago we rarely won against a top side. We were called flat track bullies, and it was hard to disagree with that sentiment.

Now, though, there is a new determination about our play. We bossed Chelsea. They could hardly get the ball out of their own half at times. It was a powerful performance.

I'm not getting carried away yet, but after the last 6 or 7 games, when we have bossed everyone we have played, the season is starting to look promising.

We had a good start last season that disintegrated after our loss at Spurs, but I don't see that happening this season.

This is Peps team, playing how he wants us to with his players and it's finally gelling.

If we can keep this level of performance up it's going to be an expensive season with all the finals coming up!

Best thing for me about this match is the victory of offensive football over that ugly, boring game of cowards,
on a hiding on their home turf. Deserved defeat for the reigning champion. So happy to see City in total control.

What a turn around story about Delph! So confident and fuckin cool. It can't be him really.

Sané was a bit flat today I thought. (Imagine Sanchez would be here already...)
Raz had a good match but could have been a bit sharper in the final pass.
No moaning at all though.
That one was really impressive and a pleasure to watch!

Hope all the players come back safe and in perfect shape from the international break
and Sergio is recovering in the meantime.

Not sure I would sign your wording describing Chelsea under Conte (lol), I would most probably talk about opportunism. But I completely agree with your point, that's what's all about. Guardiola succeeding in City will be a victory for football, with the expected influence on the game and its evolution. It's all about ideas to me too, I have nothing against Conte, he simply represents the football I want to beat. So it has to be a winning strategy, you understand, just playing the "beautiful game" is simply not good enough. Last thing I want to experience is another WC1982 again, Brazil's failure there was followed by an era of fucking negativity...

I said before the game that I expected Guardiola being bolder in his recent rotation policy. He wasn't, he's still insecure, relying too much on specific key players. I strongly believe we could have appeared much much fresher tonight, with much much more energy -and the game could have been easier for City. Anyway. As a consequence, many players played their 3rd game in 7 days tonight. While Sane played his 4th in 10 days. I honestly expected nothing better from him. He lacked sharpness, his decision making wasn't the best, his positioning problematic occasionally etc. But it was not his fault. The only reason he was fielded is because Guardiola strongly believes in his quality. How could he not? An exceptional talent, capable of producing amazing stuff -like our 1st goal vs Palace. Pep insisted on keeping him on the pitch until 84', hoping for a moment of magic if possible. In his eyes, it was a risk worth taking. But I can assure you, Azpilicueta won't be that lucky again next time he faces him... [that is, of course, if he's the one, not Moses, chosen by Conte to face him next time]
