Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

Temptation was to get posting after that shower of shit earlier, but sometimes a little time helps with perspective.

Pep, the 2 Defensive midfielder setup does not work. It didn't work against Lyon, Leeds or today.
Cancelo - had a poor game because of the above.
Kev looked tired from the start, as he would after his midweek performance, why was he in the starting 11?
Mendy - why would you pick him. I can understand resting Zinky (criminally underated on here), but there must be ball boys with more pace and tactical nouse than him. Should not be let near a City shirt again. He doesn't need a statue, he IS a statue.
Sterling - 18 months of subpar performances and today was one of his worst. Time to cash in on the memory of his 12 months of magic and let him go?
Jesus - reinforced the need for a Striker. He will never dominate the front line
Torres - criticism is unfair. How many games has he played for us? Give him time to prove himself
Steffen - quality back-up and would be the Number 1 goalie for many Prem teams
The rest were just ok, but

Thank fuck for Phil !

Overall it's just disappointing that we played so poorly and shows that a central core of 5-6 players are responsible for lifting us in most games and when they are rotated out and Pep has his double-pivot brain fart it can go spectacularly wrong.

Hopefully because in the form he’s shown over the last 2 seasons he’s not an asset worth keeping

something not right with sterling for him to coast and walk in games something big has happened
its the club or sterling wanting a parting of waves. your form does not just fall apart like it has with sterling
and in a very big year with the euro's in the summer you need big game time

i said before this season started city are mad going into a new season with just aguero the main striker ?
we been short of options as strikers for 4 or 5 seasons and its crazy to think what we have won. the whole team has to score goals for city to have a good season ? we seen it with 100 points and defending the title, the front 5 or 6 players all got into double figures and sterling had a blinding season and got 20 goals

but when its tight at the run in stage of the season teams shut up shop and pack the defences and are solid to break down. this is were you need strikers they sense, see, smell, goals long before anybody else

haaland would be a start but we need somebody else to partner him another world class striker and then delap can be brought into the first team squad fulltime, both jesus and sterling can leave ? both had 5 years to earn a place outright but failed

Totally agree mate.. but you said it. It’s confidence.

Mane is going through the exact same thing for the dippers at the moment.. literally nothing coming off for him and overthinking everything.

is Mane shit? Nah he’s the real deal.. as is Sterling. Both will be back.

worth baring in mind just how awful Bernie was last season.. people seem to forget that.. he also wasn’t ‘that’ good in his debut season for us either.. in fact he’s only been absolute top level for us for one full season and cost similar money to Sterling yet gets nowhere near the flak. But some posters on this forum won’t let fact get in the way of hate.
Exactly. All players go through this. It can last for months. Your example of Sane is spot on. Brilliant CF but going through hell. In fact Salah isn't far behind him.

The skill never leaves though the form often does.

Could care less what or how much we've spent mate. That's for the rags and dippers to worry about. What I care is the quality and performance from game to game, just disappointed we were not on it today. Hope we can respond vs Villa.
We should care because with the wages that they are on, they are almost impossible to get rid of until the end of the contract. Therefore, they can have a serious impact on the team, its performance, its ability to be able to afford replacements, as well as general moral for years to come.

which other top player has used a lack of confidence as an excuse, ronaldo, messi, debruyne, aguero, benzema, david silva, yaya, kompany, to name but a few, its about money, top top players get on and show their worth instead of sulking which it looks like sterling is doing

Can’t stand these Sterling haters. On form he’s amazing, but something has happened to his form lately and he has a habit of smiling and seeming unconcerned when his chances don’t come off. That’s annoying. Foden is furious with himself if he misses chances.
He is getting some valid criticism as his form is beyond poor. There is no need to be personal or nasty but the guys performances are a huge concern.

I’d agree , don’t wanna be too harsh because he is a young lad, but definitely been underwhelmed so far , came with a big reputation one of Spain’s best young players.
Not seeing it so far .
Gotta improve .
needs to be more direct and show bit more confidence.
We have a kid on loan at Leeds Jack Harrison. Their fans love him.
