Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

Shocking game that many of us predicted in the pre match thread.Once we stray from our best 12/13 the drop off is vast,as proved today. We looked a million times better when Foden and Gundogan entered play.

However, being realistic, something had to give.....just a shame it was the FA Cup.

Hope Kev is ok,now let's do that treble :-)

He didn’t really have any service or support.
If we had faced Aguero for this last ten years, he would have terrified me as a fan every time he got near our box. Defenders admit he terrifies them with his presence - even when he doesn't have the ball. Jesus is different - outstanding in a different way. He could become a legend this season........

Apart from Laporte who was average, every single one of them was fucking shit!

Just like the semifinal last season. A complete fucking let down again!
It was a disappointing first half
second half was better look at this
We going to throw the Villa game as well ?
Our first half was very poor LAPORTE wasn't at best sterling wasn't at best but foden and ilkay changed the Game just look at this http://rainonit.com/3ZJZ

Fair point, and I’m not really comparing the 2, but Sane looked very poor against PSG, as did Torres yesterday.

Yes, and I couldn't care less how he performs now. I just recollected those who hyped up Torres early on because of a few CL goals and started rating him above Sane.
I'm not going to judge Torres this season. I didn't even expect him to do anything yesterday. We've seen with Sterling, Sane, Bernardo, Rodri, Cancelo and others, how they improved in their second season under Pep. Hope Torres to be better next season.

Southgate will take Raheem to the Euros. He's a manager that has no imagination and sticks with a rigid idea with no innovation. Kane will start even if he was on crutches and Pickford the hoofing juggler will be in goal
I think you’re right and I think that’s sterling’s saving grace

Beaten by a better side, no complaints from me, it happens.

My fear is we are running out of steam, we cannot know what shape the players are in mentally and physically in this most demanding of seasons and we could well slump and end with nothing. That would not surprise me either. Chelsea were better than us all over the pitch. My mate in Portugal is a Chelsea fan and knows his football, he says the change Tuchel has brought about to the team is amazing. Rudiger looks as good a centre half as there is in the world, he is immense, Chillwell looks the best left back in the country. Micah pointed out before the game where we could be got at and Chelsea did just that for the goal. We have been at an unbelievable level for a few months and now we are sliding, it was always possible as sustaining the level we were at for the length of time and the amount of games we have played is fucking impossible. Players are not robots, they are human beings and i give them all immense credit for getting us so far, but in doing so we are starting to look exhausted. I get the rotation as its physically impossible to play every game, we would be killing players if we did. Look at what's happened to Liverpool, they could not sustain the levels they reached and the lack of close season hasn't helped anybody.

We never got at them and that is rare for us against anybody, Tuchel got it spot on tactically and closed down the areas we usually exploit. Its easy to say our players were shit, sack them, sell them etc, and yes we were not at our best, because Chelsea never let us be at our best. Kev was closed down by Kante and Jorginho and was never in the game, Jesus was anonymous, Sterling and Torres got no service because Kev was closed down. Kev is now injured and if it is serious then i do fear we win nothing. Mourinho will set Spurs up the same way in the Caraboa cup and we have to find a way around that.

Its this obsession with the CL that will cost us. It might not be what I want, but its obviously what the owners, players and management want more than anything else. But if and its a big if we beat PSG, we could face Chelsea again the CL final and i have to say i wouldn't fancy us against them.

As I posted a while back Pep had told my source that the club he feared most was Chelsea, its now obvious why. I can see Chelsea winning the FA Cup and the CL, they are good enough.
Well If Pep fears Chelsea then he's done here.

Even after sleeping on it, I can't get clear in my head what I think about this. Pep is one of, if not, the greatest manager in football history so if we all knew that making 8 changes was not going to end well, then he certainly did. So the conclusion can only be that he felt he had to make those changes and hope that some of those players would stand up and be counted for once. The fact that they didn't (again) will, presumably, have told Pep all he needs to know.

I think in Pep's head the one he didn't mind losing was yesterday's game. He probably wants to keep the record of the league Cup and is concerned more about PL and CL

Well done Chelsea, you were the better side on the day.

Pep set up the side in totally the wrong way, the right hand side off defence walked straight into Chelsea’s trap.
Cancelo, is not a very good defender (as we’ve seen over the last few weeks) and with no Berbardo to cover him, it was like a hot knife through butter every time Chelsea broke down their left (our right).

Mendy offered nothing again.

2 holding midfielder’s and Kev doing all the work, was never going to win the battle in midfield. An area that Pep has always tried to dominate was as weak as I’ve seen it since Yaya was walking around on the pitch.

We all know the problem we have in the striker department (this should be fixed hopefully this summer) but we weren’t in a position to supply any of the front three with half decent opportunities, due to the lack of creativity in the middle.
