sick of the bullshit comment "that team was good enough to win".
obviously not , WE FUCKING LOST. the same was said after the Leeds game . when will he, and people on here learn.
Bill were you here when we were shit? Wind your neck in you wum. Calling you out Bill. Support like you can do one mr Mr whinging whining moaner. Seriously some shit support we have amongst us

First off congratulations on the title and yes it’s only a matter of time although I hope from a selfish point it isn’t sorted out before you are due to play next!

Having read a few, not all I admit, comments on here some are really quite strange

First off from a Chelsea perspective let’s deal with VAR.

Sterling was very very lucky that his yellow wasn’t a red. His studs were showing and probably 8/10 times that the ref would be sent to the monitor if it wasn’t given on the field had it been he certainly wouldn’t have been asked to review his decision

The first penalty was harsh but as we hear time after time you can’t get close to anyone in the box. So yep no complaints . Thank you Augero

The second one looked like a penalty but Taylor ,who has an awful record against us , probably from his angle wasn’t 100% sure and VAR didnt think there was a clear and obvious error, thankfully for us, but I would have gone mad if the roles had been reversed.

On to team selections.

When I looked at your team selection prior to kick off I too thought the number of changes looked extreme but come off it it’s not as if Pep pulled in 9 supporters and asked if they fancied a game. Its not as if you had a 19 year old rookie playing a pivotal role in midfield was it !

Of course we went stronger based on last games selections but Tunchal said something in the build up when he talked about the Fa cup game and how he thought you looked leggy having played a day later, having to travel to London etc. That said Tunchal still went strong and my guess is he was hoping for a draw at best but hoping of course for a win but having seen how Pep set you up and of course aided by losing 1-0 at half time he realised he had to get Alonso and James further forward and to be honest it worked a great.Well agin for us

Players everywhere are starting to be impacted by the efforts they have put into the season to date. Lots of players need rest but at the same time they need to keep match fitness so it’s a fine balance but for me if I were in Pepe’s shoes I would have wanted the league done and dusted so why did he make so many changes ?

Was it he expected us to write off the game so expected Tuchal to make even more changes ?
Was it he is worried about the players being in the “red zone” ?
Was it he overates the depth of your squad ?
or
Was it something else?

Most cup finals are held at the end of the season at a time when players are shattered both physically and mentally.

End of season create a completely different challenge meaning anything can happen. Of course you will be expected to win but just like you in this competition we have beaten everything that’s been put in front of us to get to the final so we are there on merit .

We will present a challenge to whoever Pep selects but if your players go into the game with the same mindset some on here seem to have then it could get messy

Confidence is one thing arrogance is another !
Trust me, yesterday's selection was nothing to do with arrogance or over confidence.

Mr Hindsight. Did ok v Palace. Pen goes in no problem. Shit happens.

I’d not blame him but Eddy is not a world class shot stopper. Other things he’s second to none mind.

Think is it shouldnt have got to Eddie in the first place ;)
Rodri had no pass on , no movement for him apart from to just hit it into space which is something Pep doesnt want.
Once Rodri had lost the ball, Mendy was completely out of position, but surely could have made more of an effort to get back. Look at Stones the other night ran half the pitch to make a block with Zinchenko.

I dont like calling players out because that starting 11 was always going to play different to the CL game. Because yesterday team was slower, no play maker. Not there fault just a fact.

The amount of times I noticed players just walking after losing the ball, that's not Peps way. I thought the front 3 made lots of runs but no one could or would pass to them. KDB, Bernie, Gundogan, Foden would have found them.

Perhaps that's why Sergio head went he had made a few good runs found space but the player choose to shot.
I think as they dont play often they were more a team of individuals trying to impress than playing as a team. That's the feeling I got. Sadly when Sergio was played in his touch was rusty and poor :(

I know some on here don't like him, but Sam Lee's Athletic article says that even before the game the buzz coming out of the club was that the selection was about not wanting top players to go out, win, and that he would have to spend 3 weeks telling the team not to overestimate them. He's keeping players hungry who now have a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. In every tactics talk for the next 3 weeks Pep can say "and we know how good they are, anything less than 100% and we know what they will do to us".

Another "league in the bag" poster.
Do you honestly, genuinely believe it isn't? Not in a "I'm a city fan I've seen it all", "it's not over till it's over" way, but that you genuinely believe that there is more than 99.9% chance that United will win every game, and we won't pick up three points between now and the end of the season? Can you explain your thinking, because I need to understand some people on here.

It's simple. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin.

Once upon a time, there was a team of swamp rats from Old Toilet who were 8 points ahead at the top of the Premier League with 5 games to go.

The End. :-|

I thought it was clever pressing from Chelsea myself, they gave Rodri freedom of the park and let him wander up looking for the pass, three players then quickly converged on him leaving no out ball. He shouldn't have stopped, hoping the ref would give a free kick, when there was no foul anyway.

I thought Rodri had a good game considering he was asked to do the job of at least two players but that was down to him.

I suppose like all good stories it gets embellished every time it's told, and the moral becomes more important than the facts. By next season it will be 11 points in 3 games and the season after 14 in 2.

Bill is as big a blue as you’ll ever see and has put in the hard yards over many years.
He’s entitled to his views even if I disagree with him 100% when it comes to the football side of things.
I think his opinions are outdated and often wrong but it is what it is.

Some of the hyperbole and condescension being expressed on both sides is somewhat unedifying
Come on, we're all blues entitled to opinions, take any frustration out in a gym , on a bike ride or good long walk. ))

There is so much more to football management than picking your best team every week. It is far too simplistic to say we should have killed our CL team in a bid to win a league that we are going to win anyway.
There is so much strategy, bluff, counter bluff, mind games and probing going on that most people wouldn't know where to start.
I posted in the pre match thread yesterday that this match was a free hit, so I'm not saying this after the event, and it was.
Pep had a free hand yesterday, he selected that team and played that match with the bigger picture in mind.

Pep has managed this squad superbly.

I honestly, genuinely believe it isn't and factually and numerically I'm currently correct.

I don’t think he was having a go, he was explaining how the ball came to be there for Sterling!

Sergio was NEVER going to score that goal, and he knew it! Sterling bailed him out after a bad first touch. He is lucky Sterling knocked it in with his weaker foot!
You’re right in everything bar the having a go. He may not have “ had a go”but if you got that look in a pub you’d know things aren’t good ;)
