Stones not fit enough to be dm.

The myth that Stones can be a good DM will be busted soon enough if he manages to stay fit. First, a DM is supposed to run more and work harder than a CB. Normally, a CB runs 8-9 km per game, Rodri covered about 12km... Second, a DM in a Pep team should be able to complete at least 60-70 passes. The latter may look easy, but in reality it is hard. Stones had a great game in Instanbul, but he completed only 34 passes in the final. Being able to receive and progress the ball under pressure is an underappreciated quality. It requires mobility, intelligence, awareness, strength, etc. Kova has some of those qualities but not the whole package. Stones or Akanji are not likely to do better, especially in the build-up. A solid build-up play is the foundation of defence and control in a Pep system. We have to sign a DM.

Our injury situation means Pep will have to cobble a team together putting several square pegs in round holes so we could get beat and beat heavily. If that transpires to be the case so be it. I've not forgotten many years of heavy painful defeats before all the success so it's Que Sera Sera, whatever will be will be. I like going to the next game after a heavy defeat because it galvanises my spirit and resilience to adversity. I feel humble yet proud of my allegiance to City, it's all part of being a blue I think.

I feel excited to see Marmoush Khusanov and possibly Ries play. Even though we got well beaten in Paris I'm looking forward to going the game and raising the atmosphere, I hope you are too.

Don't just sit in your seat in silence shitting yourself about getting beat, make some fuckin' noise and make it loud! The team and Pep nead their spirits lifting so we need to play our fart in creating a vociferous atmosphere. Bring it on!

COME ON CITY!!!
Do you fart that loudly?

I can't wait for the match! Would love to see Marmoush play hopefully he scores and plays well. I think he will break into this team very smoothly.

That's all well and good but in reality stones has the minerals to be a very good defensive mid.We have seen on many occasions that his skill control and footballing iq can get him out of most situations.

The only negative is his lack of game time
But I'm not expecting him to play a full 90.
Let him start and boss the first 60 hopefully we can get a good lead then put akanji in there to close the game out.

Come on, lads.
Will one of the new guys make their debut?
Will we be able to dominate the ball, score our chances, and be able to stop the counter?
Lots to look forward to.

COME ON!

————————Ederson———-
Khusanov-Stones-Gvardiol-Akanji
——Bernardo-Kovacic-Grealish
Foden———-Haaland——--Marmoush

Mix it up at the back - as Gvardiol is the only one who looks capable of staying properly fit, give him a run at centre half.

Midfield is still shite. Personally, I’d give O’Reilly a go, but that isn’t happening. Don’t really care on Kovacic or Gundogan - both hopeless as a 6 on their own, but might be ok with a couple of other players fairly close to them.

Toss up between Ederson and Ortega as well. But we need to pick one and stick with them.

Marmoush and Khusanov are likely to start from what I've been reading. Really looking forward to their debuts.

should be a good game and we are gonna have to out score them as theypotentially could steam roller over our midfield but then again if we have our shooting boots on we can score a few . Pep needs to be smart with his selections but probably won’t .

I reckon pep will go with:

Ederson

Khusanov akanji gvardiol Lewis

Bernardo Gundogan kdb

Foden haaland grealish

Ederson
Khusanov Akanji Stones Gvardiol
Kovacic
Bernardo
Foden Marmoush Grealish
Haaland

Can see something like this. With our new striker being, well, new to our pressing structure, Grealish will offer a bit more solidity than Savinho.
