In his first season, Guardiola never had the tools but he instilled his philosophy into the team and never wavered in his approach. That meant it was much easier the next season to add new players into an established system. Sarri needs the players for his particular style of football, but yesterday he chose to bench Higuain and basically reverted to a brand of football more akin to Conte or Mourinho. Chelsea fans, in turn, seem to be happier to have seen an improved defensive performance rather than be upset at losing in a final without having had a shot on target. Sarri should probably thank his recalcitrant keeper, as that smokescreen has prevented more serious questions from being asked.

Jesus, some of our fans wanted Yaya gone because his agent moaned he didn’t get a birthday cake. This tosser refused to come off when his manager wanted him to. What kind of message does that send out to the rest of football?

May as well come out holding a banner saying “we manage ourselves, he just stands on the sideline”!

If I were Sarri I’d drop him indefinitely. Especially since he was bringing Willy on to win the shoot-out for them and Kepa let one slide under him that he should have saved.

A bit of a disgrace if you ask me.

Based on his last two games against City with Gundogan and Aguero's penalty, Kepa appears to have the Joe Hart problem with shots low to his left.

I havent seen anything from Kepa to suggest a world record fee for a goalie. Allison has looked decent for a huge fee, but this chap dont look anything special

Same. He's not been anything other than average at shot stopping this season, letting a few soft ones in and his command of his area and distribution isn't anything to write home about either.

When watching live I thought the GK simply thought the manager wanted him off due to injury and the GK was saying ‘I’m not injured’.

It just needed Sarri to send a messsge via one of the other players to tell the GK ‘I want you off (presumably because Sarri wanted Caballero in goal for the penalties) anyway to avoid the miscommunication
