Genuine question to posters @Vialli98 and @ASHCFC- just seen that you have signed another player. A young player presumably on a long term contract.

Exactly how many players do you currently have registered in your team squad , and how many are expected to leave before the end of transfer windows - presumably our leagues and Saudi .

Back in the day in U21 or U23 football, teams were allowed an over age player. That is how Tiago Silva must feel, like he is captaining a youth team. It is a bizarre strategy, but it has made them interesting.

Currently 33 players. But of those 33, around 3 will be sold (Lukaku, CHO, Sarr, who have all been training separately from the main group as they sort their futures out), a further 4-5 will likely head out on loan or also sold (2 young GKs and a couple of other young players).

So I’d say the actual first team squad is closer to around 22-23 players. We’re likely still in the market for an attacker. Poch has said his ideal squad size is around 22-25 players.

Also a quick point about selling to Saudi Arabia. A lot has been made about Chelsea selling 2 players to Saudi, but if you look at the fees, we got less for Mendy and Koulibaly than what Liverpool got for Fabinho alone, who also sold Henderson to them. Two old big earners off the books for huge fees. Also, City sold Mahrez to them for roughly the same amount we got for both Mendy and Koulibaly. I feel like this Saudi narrative ran amok but the whole of Europe have sold players to them and we’re nowhere near the biggest beneficiaries.

Thanks for that info.

I wasn't suggesting that chelsea had massively sold to Saudi, but with their window opening longer, that there might be a possibility for such.

The dippers getting so much for Fabinho looks as dodgy as fuck imo , but that goes for most things involving those cunts. Coutinho comes instantly to mind ..................

Thanks for taking the lead on that @Vialli98, as my up-to-date knowledge isn't nearly so specific.

I really think that having a manageable squad size is critical to success, regardless of whether you're Prem elite or Sunday amateurs.

I think that perhaps it's as important as the actual quality of playing staff.

City have a smaller squad than most,a lot of big signings but have a look at our bench.A lot of young players.
A point missed by a lot of the so called press.

I didn't realise that, but it makes perfect sense imo. You need a tight group.

Chelsea are looking good under Pochetino, and they are looking good a lot quicker than I thought they would

Still not convinced that they will get top 4, just seem to light up top, very reliant on Sterling and Jackson for the goals untill Nkunku comes back

On a side now, how good is it seeing Sterling getting back to form and terrorising defences

He was a very polarising guy his last seasons here, but he's been one of England's best players the last decade, and a HUGE player for us and how successful we've been

It's brilliant to see him getting spoken of positively by the media, who've ways hated him and try to put him down, and the Chelsea fans who were, somewhat justifiably, frustrated with his performances last year

Give Raz the ball in space running towards goal and he can hurt any team on the planet

Nah watched last night against a relegation side and at points it was a and end to end game with only Sterling looking the difference any good side like West ham will take point of them! Chelsea didn't control the game against Luton!

Maybe they'll be better against better sides where they will have less of the ball and sit in then hit teams with pace!!

That’s a ridiculous post analysing his performances against Luton and a stagnant West Ham defence. Do you really think he’ll hurt our defence? Not a fucking chance, he’s riding early season form.

Raheem seems to be back to something like his best.

He’s certainly had a very good start to the season.

He looks completely reenergised. It’s wonderful to see. I was very down on him after last season, and he looked pretty bad in preseason too, but he looks like a player reborn. It’s early days of course, so I won’t get too ahead of myself, but it’s amazing to see.
