Hoorah for Mark 'messiah' Hughes.

He is going to bring riches and success to the club based on no other fact than...... we need a manager for more than 1 season.

Forget no former managerial success, forget results, forget league position, forget huge tactical errors, forget ridiculous team selection, forget shocking team performances, forget 1st round league cup exit to struggling club in lower league, forget 1st round FA Cup 0-3 home defeat to struggling club in lower league........

Forget all of it, cus this season we will have managerial stability, finish 6th (or above) and we'll all live happily ever after.

Makes you wonder why he was being touted as a serious contender to be the next manager of the Rags 12 months ago. Perhaps all those football pundits and experts who rated him know fuck-all about the game compared to geniuses like you ;)

Or maybe i have gone on actual bang-in-yer-face facts, rather than journos guessing as to who will do what and when!

Next season, we finish 6th, get to a final, then following season finish top 4, and win something, some people will still moan that we would have done it faster without Hughes.

I reckon if we finish 6th and get to a final there will be very few complaints about Hughes.
I agree and I hope he proves me wrong.

Thinking about it, if we got to 6th and a Final (but lost the Final), people would be out in force I suspect moaning about managerial tactics in the final and if we had Mourinho we would have won in the final ;)
Definitely. No matter what he may (or may not) achieve, some on here just won't accept him.

Forget our fantastic home record all season, forget we got to a quarter final of a major European competition (for the 1st time in 30 yrs), forget some of the great signings he's made, forget trouncing Arsenal 3-0 and Portsmouth 6-0.

Take our European adventure into consideration, ffs!

The statement was made that he was our most successful manager in the premier league.

Europe has nothing to do with it, although if you wish to include wins against Omonio, Streymur etc I'm sure you could find a stat to prove his greatness.

Jesus wept! They were wins ffs!!!!! Just like the ones against Schalke and Hamburg were!!!

Yeah but the gap between 16th to 11th and pretty much all teams in the bottom half is minimal, apart from the odd team now and then.

My point is that it was his second season that O'neil really made progress

He improved Villas points tally by 8 points in his first year, and 10 in his second. Sorry, but he did good from the outset.

so was keane, so was bruce, its whoever is flavour of the month at the time

Nah, Hughes was considered by many as a better candidate than either of those 2. Keane had already been found out a bit at this level. Bruce, to his credit, is now making a name for himself but Hughes was the one that was under more serious consideration.

It's yer guy who stipulated 'in the Premier League' you want to be getting annoyed with, not Moomba.

Kind of like what Hughes did at Blackburn, but on a much, much tighter budget.

Point taken. But I'd like to take our European escapades into account too. If they're being ignored, could we ignore the FA and Carling up too, then!!
