Kind of like what Hughes did at Blackburn, but on a much, much tighter budget.

Hughes at Blackburn average 4 points a season more than they did under Souness. And Sounness did it by building a side from the second division.

I know it doesnt work like that, which if it did would make your argument impossible.

My views are based on what has actually been achieved over the last 12 months, and my own humble opinion is that MH will not get us a 6th place finish next season or the season after, regardless of the money he spends.

If it's based on 12 months, MH wasn't even here then and we were still reeling from the 8-1 massacre. EIGHT months, that's all he's had. Come back when he's done 18!!!!!

lol - you got me there, no I wasn't. But by all accounts he was being considered - probably along with 6 or 8 other names. I just feel that if he's such a shit manager why would he even be mentioned as a possible successor to Bacon Face? The Rag connection obvously has something to do with that, but I don't think I've ever seen Bryan Robson's name mentioned. That's because whatever people think of Hughes, he's a better manager than Captain Coffeemate was.

Personally I feel we've just been through a year of transition, with a new manager trying to build his own team, and we've not done too badly all things considered.

I feel, given a full pre-season and full summer transfer window, Hughes should be able to get us into the top 6, if he doesn't, I'll hold my hands up, say I was wrong and start asking questions of our owners, but untill it's proven he's the wrong man for the job I'll be behind him, and the rest of 'em 100%.

brian robson already has a job at united,as does pallister.

Just to simplify things but if Hughes sorts out the back four then wouldnt we amass at least 10 more points a seasonTo be fair to Hughes he does have us playing attacking football,granted his substitutions have left a lot to be granted but its the back four (especially Dunne & Richards) that have left us chasing games this season.
