Chris Davies MP

Name me one MP that's fit to be so, I can't, they are a bunch of self serving arseholes... Not rubbishing your post mate, i just cant stand the modern political class and their morals, hence me throwing a blanket of corruption on the whole shower.. I obviously cannot prove they are all at it but the last time they had a purge there were plenty with their fingers in the cookie jar..!

The only time they don’t play party politics is when they vote themselves an above inflation wage rise or improvements to their pensions. They have second homes that the tax payer pays for then they sell them and pocket the equity

Genuinely, I would urge those who think all MPs are self-serving, lying crooks, to stand back a bit and try to be a bit more balanced and circumspect in your thinking. It's not helpful to have such a dim view of our political system, especially when that view is imo completely wrong.

Of the 650 MPs, I think the vast majority are decent - very decent - hardworking people who genuinely want to make Britain a better place for all of us. That's why they go into politics. But at the end of the day, they are just people. They're no more immoral nor criminal than any other random group of 650 people and to imagine that somehow, only pond-life are attracted to becoming MPs would be a rather bizarre (and wrong) conclusion.

That is not to say that once in the job, they are not subject to all sorts of conflicting pressures, to vote one way or another, to tow a party line, or what have you. And maybe that makes some of them say and do things they'd rather not, from time to time. But the idea they are all bent is I am sure, just wrong.

Reading up on it, I reckon he's cocked up his expenses and tried to rectify it with a dodgy invoice. Rookie error maybe? He's possibly not tried to benefit from the system, so a bit harsh to not give him a chance.

The honest retort would have been " ooopps I appear to have cocked up. Can someone show me how and where and if there's been an overpayment by how much so I can refund the system " - nt " ooopps I appear to have cocked up, best fabricate a false invoice to cover the overpayment so I can keep it" - subtle but telling difference.

Has he been put under the parliamentary recall process as per the labour fuckwitt for Peterborough. Or has May secured his vote?

One rule and all that...

Not often I agree with you Chippy, but fair play. Unfortunately MP's in general have not covered themselves in glory in recent years, but having worked for 2 and associated with and met many more they are just human beings who are trying to make a difference, but are inevitably compromised in the widest sense. It's a shit job tbh. I wouldn't do it.

Saying that, this guy has committed a criminal offence and should actually be jailed and lose his position. Ignorance is no defence, and trying to cover up your mistake compounds it.

I'm not a judge and couldn't possibly suggest what an appropriate punishment might be.

But I agree there's a big difference between claiming for anything and everything you might reasonably claim for (or even unreasonably claim for) vs making up fictitious expense claims, let alone doing so and fraudulently covering up such. That's bang out of order in anyone's book.
