City’s Away Support Tonight

Bit different in fairness but agree it’s a shite song

Disagree. Both about death. Both in different contexts admittedly. Funnily enough, they started singing it when it kicked off on the forecourt after the game last night. Sheltered and protected by the police obviously

Wasn't even a scouser who sang it first, came from a musical long before any scouser sang it. But interesting that in the musical it was sang to a guy who fell on his own knife after a failed robbery - can understand why the scousers adopted it now.
Yes i know the real history about its origin but your detail is interesting.

But l bet not many scousers do. An unhappy coincidence that Liverpool were starting to benefit from the Littlewoods money at the same time as the Beatles made Liverpool as a place famous and Gerry Marsden jumped on the bandwagon.

Very few dippers know of littlewoods financial doping - or pretend no to more like.

I don’t think football chants should be taken so literally. Obviously most are these days in our snowflake celebrity obsessed country. However I think songs about air disasters and race are a little different.

"Theyre gonna die theyre gonna die, city are gonna die. How we do it I dont know, cut them up from head to toe, all i know is citys gonna die"

Ive mentioned before that many of the rags who sing this shite wear blue coats to the Etihad so they aren’t as noticeable on their way to and from the ground. It’s pretty embarrassing.

I’m not bothered about what the rags sing but there’s no real comparison with chants that haven’t been sang on the terraces at City for over 20 years.

The last time I was in the tramps end at OT, the scummy rags were doing aeroplane gestures to try to get a response from Blues.

Just got in. Sat down. Opened a bottle of Proper Job. Having a celebratory drink before I go to bed. :-)

I don’t want this post to be an us and them post. Because at the end of the day we’re all City fans.

But they away end was full of local City fans tonight. Apart from Zinchenko and his Mrs. ;-)

And didn’t it make a Hell of a difference!

City’s away support was immense.

I’ve been lucky enough to go to OT on numerous occasions in the past and tonight’s support was one of the best I’ve ever heard. Especially in the 1st half.

Hopefully the club have taken note of the tremendous away support tonight?

When City go to Old Trafford again for the PL game, I hope they club will make more tickets available for City’s local support.

A big thank you to Pep and the team for a wonderful performance, and a wonderful night at Old Trafford.

Good night. :-)

Jrb a few times you have said that rags away fans are some of best in PL, where we better than that :-)….. Only joking mate, bet last night was fantastic, unfortunately I couldn't go.

Im going to sound like a miserable repeat myself t**t here but second leg I could actually get a list of available seats in lower SS from the club. From there all those great singers last night could relocate to there and make it just as loud at the Etihad. Don't think it would happen though as we couldn't make it for port vale, but how good would it be to repeat that noise because it was very loud & proud.
