And we never lose semis!

go on then post a list of our semi final wins!!!!

Loads if you go back. FA Cup 69, Cup winners cup 70, League cup 70, 74 and 76. Also FA Cup 81.

We lost the 71 Cup Winner cup semi to Chelsea but I don't know anymore off the top of my head in our entire history.

Billy Meredith's last match was the 1924 FA Cup SF that we lost to Newcastle. Also lost to Arsenal in the 1932 SF. Those are the only two FA Cup semis we've lost from 10 appearances.

Liverpool in the League Cup 81 .....I got thrown out of The Annie Road that night!

Forgot that one. We deserved to win, though. Robbed by a referee. Kevin Reeves "Illegal jumping" if I remember rightly...

In the first leg that which we lost 1-0......2nd leg we battered them although we were already 1-0 down by the time I got in the ground as the OB took and age to escort us from Lime Street. Remember a lad called Gary Buckley having a stormer, we got it back to 1-1 and the Scousers were hanging on but we couldn't quite get the 2nd.

I know im a stuck record but im on the cusp of 30 and ive never seen us in a semi!

Please god/allah/budda/uwe help us get there this time

city have a good record in semis

8 wins out of 10 fa cup semis
3 wins out of 5 league cup semis (also lost to Stoke in 1964 as a 2nd division club)
1 win out of 2 euro cup semis

We approach this UEFA quarter-final with possibly our strongest line-up since the early seventies ....... and one which should certainly be well capable of givin' Hamburg a game , even if only in the home leg!!!!!

Hamburg will be only too aware of our victory at Schalke , although some of our playing personnel should be different by the time we actually get around to playing them , and they will have studied us on video , and maybe in the flesh too ........ so they'll be clued in as to our threats as much as they possibly can be ......... but they'll also have heard about our unpredictability and that will make them extremely wary of us , especially in the leg in Germany , where we're likely to rely on sparodic , pacy breakaways .

We seem to be developing a little bit of steel at the back in recent matches , we seem to be finding a better fluency in our general play in european games , and we are also riding our luck in this cup ......... Hamburg will know that we can upset them , especially in the return leg , and any overconfidence on their part could well turn out to be their downfall.
