losing away at port vale towards the end of the season
awful experience

they went on to stay up that year
we went down...
again!

and some people are moaning that we didn't go on to get a 4th goal away at bayern fucken munich
Excellent post, I think Vale beat us at home as well! How times have changed.

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

There are so many lows it's hard to say.... but the first ones that come to mind:

Losing 1-0 to Lincoln City in the League Cup at home (after we got walloped by them in the first leg)...
Losing to Stockport County at Edgeley Park and sitting with my Dad in with the County fans.....
And sitting in with the Boro fans for Sven's last game when we lost 8-1 (and I had put my money on 0-0, being the knowledgeable punter that I am!)

I went to the 4-0 Liverpool game on the Wednesday. Thought we played better second half so naively went back on the saturday thinking we would get a draw. 6-0 and was chased across Stanley park by margi Clare's love child with a pen knife!! Had better days.

same as - That Saturday match was the one and only time I have left a match early (hangs head in shame) - We left when the fourth went in as We'd just had enough especially after the Wednesday game. We went and had a few in The Arkles - the barman shouted over at us with great delight that they had scored again and then again - Always remember that managerial genius Alan Ball say " I just sat back and enjoyed the way Liverpool played" - you can imagine what we thought of him after that comment.

After beating Munich midweek I couldn't help thinking about my low points watching City & came up with these I was at.

Halifax 1980 FA Cup defeat
York away defeat, and fuck off I was there!
Mansfield home defeat, freight bollox trophy,3000 in ground
Oxford home late 90s,lost 2 0,Kevin Francis looked like Maradona and they sang we're bust but we're beating you.

I think those 4 take some beating but I'm throwing down the gauntlet.....
agree with Halifax but add Shrewsbury six years earlier
derby county away, 6-0, Colin Hendry had just signed
Luton 83

Am i reliving a nightmare, but i am sure i went there twice, double depression quelled by lots of beer... How many balls did they get through at those games.... behave

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

my biggest low was in the horrible stuart pearce season when we just escaped relegation.

i shared my season ticket with my brother because i was working away a lot. every single game i went to see we either got beat to nil or we drew 0-0. i didnt see a single goal scored at home the whole season.

that statistic top trumps and pisses all over a poxy away game to hartlepool or york or wherever on a tuesday night!! :(

QPR after 89 minutes.

This is a great shout

Yes all the times mentioned were very bad, but irrespective of the relativity of it all, at no time as a city fan have I felt as distraught as I did at this time.

No way near. I reckon I could name about 50 worse points.

Really! With what was at stake and what we were about to lose and who we were going to lose it to!

I would have to say this was my lowest point.

- Halifax & Shrewsbury I didn't go to either but remember the aftermath to both in the playground the following week

- Luton

- Full time against Bournemouth! although it probably made the following weekend at Bradford all the more sweeter. The same goes for away at Notts County after having been gubbed 3-2, a few days before promotion against Charlton. although if truth be told that day in Nottingham and the numbers that turned up in the sunshine is one of the most amazing sights that I can remember following City.

- selling Mark Lillis. It was a big thing for me at the time!

- walking back to the car to meet my rag friend and his mates, for my lift back home after the 2-3 defeat at Maine Road, especially after having gloried in the singing at half time "2 nil up and you F**ked it up" (them vs Galatasary earlier that week). That took me a while.

- York (I was there as I live here!)
