Haha. I guess we'll never know.Bernard Halford really needs to spill the beans on this topic, but won't without incriminating himself

Blew it? Look where we are now! He was just playing the (very) long game...Maybe I’m getting a bit confused, mate. I renember there was a season’s attendances that persuaded Swales to go for the big push spending-wise, and ruin the club in the process. Maybe it was just closing the gap re attendances, rather than overtaking them.
Either way, he fucking blew it!
Just for you :)
Trust me, it was no rumour!I don't think anyone was, the fact is, 3rd highest average attendance that season is nothing to sniff at either. Especially if there's anything to the rumour of Swales undercooking the figures.
Not to mention the 4002 average attendance in 1986 when in the 3rd tier of football. Next time we play them and they have the cheek to sing about our support.. let's hear 4 THOUSAND IN 86.. 4 THOUSAND IN 86!..We were in the top 4 from then until we were relegated.
Wolves 83/84 - 12,478....where were you when you were shit indeed.
Have a look at my post on page 2.Having attended a few games the season before, 76/77 was my first full season on the kippax and started doing some aways too with my brother and his mate.
No idea about attendances but what magical memories!
Here’s the knock out blow.
I updated those figures in 2006 when I went through all the unknown attendances (more are known now than in 1997). See my other post. ThanksPost WW2 1946-47 (Div2) 37,695
