Neither here nor there.
I was wondering this. I know as this is a City forum so there's inevitably going to be a few people saying "yes", but would you say we have the best fanbase in football, in terms of behaviour and general attitude? Like pretty much every club in the country we do have a hooligan element but the Guvnors are hardly the most notorious firm in existence. You rarely hear about our fans causing trouble. Regarding the whole thing with Adam Teese, with other clubs you can imagine that a few people would have gone round and physically attacked him but we chose the more passive, humourous route on getting our revenge! We are also known for our self-depricative sense of humour, "typical City", etc. We're very modest, what with a lot of our fans clearly showing disbelief in the face of our recent success, whereas other fans would probably be bragging about breaking the top four. Our sense of humour is partially what makes us famous, whilst other fanbases gain reputation through their arrogance or knack for causing trouble.

I guess part of what drew me to City was the whole attitude of our fans.

I agree with you on the last part. However, my lad commented after the Bolton game about the atmosphere and what happened during the transition from Maine Road to Eastlands. Of late it has to be said, we have become a boring crowd at home. For the past number of home games, the away fans have chanted "your support is fucking shit"! Yet even with Bolton, Blackburn and Pompey they had the audacity to sing that with their paltry offering!! Whats going on??

Yet Nigel de Jong (my P.O.T.Y) suggests in today's MCFC.com that we are great!!?? He must have played at some quite grounds then!

There's a strange anticipatory/unsure edge to our atmopsheres at the moment! some fans are being totally unrealsitic, some being far too pessimistic and there's a few in the middle! basically we're not all (need another word) united in our ways and could be a hell of a lot more supportive in noise, numbers and positivity!

the Adam Teese pisstake thing was hillarious! shows our sense of humour! so there is a basethere to build from! I just think us blues need to be more togther more though!!

I wouldn't mind a few rounds in a ring with the guy who beat Bellamy up though!

Our fanbase is already developing the sense of entitlement combined with arrogance and elitism that make us hate the "Big 4", sadly. Fans calling for managers' head after a blip, demeaning player after player and always finding a skapegoat (granted, a few of the lazy ones deserve some criticism, but Given, De Jong, ffs?), and of course flaunting our wealth to other teams and stating matter-of-factly we will be the big boys rather than handling our growth with a sense of modesty and grace that City fans normally would.

... and we've yet to be hit by the legions of glory-hunters from Asia, Africa, and elsewhere... god help us. :(
