City - big club or not ?

It's an English culture thing mate, born out of the old class system.

There's an Upper Class in this country (royalty and the gentry) that no matter what someone achieves in their life, you can never break into, no matter what. You are born into it.

Similar with our upper house of government the House of Lords, you can actually get in there on merit, but many are just plonked in there because of who their great, great grandfather was. They're apparently born to rule.

For this ruling class to remain in existence, they've had to convince the rest of the country that they're worthy of the entitlement of power. To convince them that they're somehow better, more worthy, based on history.

The media in this country do a sterling job of selling that story, and the masses gobble it up and so the royal family remain popular, and in positions of authority.

It's similar with the "Big clubs", especially United and Liverpool, Arsenal as well, and bizarrely Tottenham seem to weasel their way in somehow (to a lesser extent).

The media promote the narrative that these "Big" clubs are somehow superior to everyone else. Entitled. The achievements of any other club couldn't possibly be as worthy or as great as the elite, because they are more worthy.

It's a ruling elite that no amount of hard work or achievement can help you break into. And the general public lap it up like serfs.
I think this is a great point. There is a class system in football which mirrors the wider class system. It says that old money is good but new money is bad, history is more important than ability. There is a sycophancy in football which is nauseating. There is so much deference given to the clubs which have historic reputations. It is nauseating how the media and the authorities bow down to the traditional clubs. Deference and a fixation on the past feels like an English disease. People seem unwilling to change or modernise. The country has an unhealthy obssession with nostalgia and football is the prime example of this.

We are a great club on a cusp of becoming big. We need at least 1 UCL to become big.

No.

Benfica in 60's was a great and top team. Today isn't.

Ajax was a football school in 70's and 90's. Now is nothing.

There was a day where Benfica was nothing. There was a day where Real Madrid was nothing. Or Manchester United.

There was a day when Spain or Rome dominated all the world, and today does not.

Things change.
Things go well until they stop going well. Things go bad until they stop going bad.

Past is not the reality. Reality is now. And now City is a big team and is a reference and is a winner club.

That's reality. Your reality, our reality. Not reality about our granfather.

Why is a big team? Because same reason all cases. All big clubs in History were financed.

Real Madrid is a big club because during 40 years of military dictatorship was favored from top to bottom. And after that was and is favored for same post military dictatorship regime who they continue dominating Spain, without militarity uniform and now in political parties, but with sames surnames, sames Duke of That, Señor of This, Prince of Beyond, Grande of, Archduke of... same shit here than in UK.

Cristiano Ronaldo (100 mil. euros) was paid for spanish workers, with our taxes, with our work in our job, for everybody, from Madrid, from Barcelona, or La Coruña or Sevilla or Oviedo. He was not paid for Real Madrid.

World doesn't care "how". World just recognize that you are great and you are great now.

Children in parks of Barcelona talk about Foden, Guardiola, Messi or Salah. While they drive the ball they say "Im Bernardo Silva", "or Mbappe", or "Kane". When I was a kid I did same with "Van Basten". Children in parks of Barcelona don't know who Van Basten is, and they do not want to know it. They wear tshirt of Barça, City, PSG or Liverpool. They dont wear tshirt of Leeds, Benfica or Alavés.
And tomorrow they will be men and they will say "Manchester City is always above Manchester United".

That is his reality. The reality.
