I've not had the chance to read many, what are the best one's? i've just bought

Blueblood
Colin Bell reluctant hero and Bluemoon down among the dead men

"The untold story of a club that went banana's" seems very apt. right now.

I've also got "Manchester: The greatest City" which is a book i did enjoy even though it took me a few years to read it.

Manchester: The greatest City is pretty hard to come by mate, i've been looking for that one. Seen it on Ebay about 2 weeks ago for 60 odd quid.

Sad man I am, I've read most of them.

The best, bar none, for me is "Blue Moon - Down Amongst The Dead Men With Manchester City"

It's a blow by blow account of the 98-99 season. The Times had a weekly article about us that season and the book is all those articles, stitched together with brief news stories, plus lots of comments by the author Mark Hodgkinson.

At the end the book concludes with a chapter of comments by City fans (nicked from MCIVTA and featuring some Bluemoon regulars) about the Gillingham game.

It's a lovely, well-written book which takes you back there. It already seems to paint a picure of a club we used to be. And the ending is very emotional. I still reread it occasionally.

Highly recommended for the sentimental Blue (if it's still available)

I've for both the first and second edition of that. Never knew it was worth money.

I endorse this comment. It's a great account of one of the weirdest seasons I can remember.

Down Amongst the Deadmen, brings a tear to my eye, in a good, proud way, everytime l read it.

Especially the fan testimonies at the end....

That Schindler book ,'Nitid ruined my life' is tedious as fuck, l couldn't be arsed wading through it after a while.

Recently read Joe Corrigan's autobiography and can highly recommend it.

As above and also enjoyed Mike Doyle's Blue Blood, Colin Bell's & Mike Summerbee.

Great tale in big Joe's book which goes on to say how Rodney Marsh and then Manager Tony Book were always at each other, with Marsh turning up for one game in a white T-shirt which just had ‘smile’ written on it, aimed at Book, who Marsh always said was miserable, the following week Book turned up with a similar T-shirt saying ‘Play’ on it !!!

I either own or have read almost all of them. The only ones I've haven't seen or read are the recent Malcolm Allison ones. I have both versions of Manchester the Greatest City and didn't realise they are worth a bit now but I'd never part with them anyway. Going back further The Pride of Manchester that follows the derbies up until 1991.

I enjoyed Bell, Marsh, Buzzer and Doyles books but Joe Corrigans is excellent - highly recommended.

However I think Farewell to Maine Road is my personal favourite. The quality of photography gathered from over the years and the research that must have gone into make it second to none. It's a treasure on my bookshelf and a pleasure to own.

has anyone read a book called george best and 21 others? its about the youth semi final between them and us and what became of the players that made it and didnt make it.

No. It irritates me a bit that Schindler yet again used Man United to sell his book.

i reccomend "The Man City Miscellany" by David Clayton

Its good for quick facts and useful stories which explains anything to do with city i.e the banana cult, background behind chants etc
