Hi Blues,

Can anyone please put me in touch with people in the City Centre Supporters Club? I am interested in joining but can't find details anywhere.

Apologies for the new thread

The Blue Alliance is the CC Supp. Club

facebook: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.facebook.com/bluealliance" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.facebook.com/bluealliance</a>

Is CC blues the name for TBA because an OSC has to have the location name? Or is it an OSC that TBA are a part of?

We meet in the Waldorf. Christmas do is this Saturday, feel free to come down. Should be a good laugh (unless you dont sing loud enough then you'll get tied up and thrown in a river)

the city centre OSC and the blue alliance are 2 separate bodies although there is an obvious connection

the branch was born out of the blue alliance and the branch originally asked to be called the blue alliance branch but were refused to have that name. As a lot of the members lived or worked in the city centre we then formed as the city centre branch

lads in the blue alliance wanted to form a branch to make it easier to get setas together at away games in a group, a block like the other branches and that way any new songs or old songs that needed an airing could catch on quicker...and then possibly spread to home games...it also meant that by being a more organised group/branch there might be more chance of raising money for flags/banners etc rather than the same 3 or 4 people having to dig deep all the time

the blue alliance is on facebook and has 7000 "fans", but they could live anywhere in the world and so that's more of a talking shop now, an ideas station although some city centre branch travel info gets posted on there as a way of encouraging people from facebook down to meetings and becoming new members

the branch itself has circa 100 members and works in exactly the same way as the other 120/130 branches of MCFCSC - the name "blue alliance" is kind of more unofficial now, anyone could in theory say they are part of the blue alliance whereas to be a member of a OSC you have to pay subs etc

we are very proud of the fact we are the city centre branch. we are aware there was or is a piccadilly branch that has been long established - certainly we would hope to attract even more blues who live in the city centre and perhaps if they aren't able to attend an away match, some of the members would watch a match in the city centre too - there is plenty of representation of greater manchester suburbs amongst the MCFCSC but hopefully we can give the supporters club a visible presence in the city centre

someone on here posted a while ago "why don't they have a city centre flag" - well that is a good point and it's on the agenda... a city centre flag will be out in the new year
