Man City chase £80m deal
By Alan Nixon
Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra hopes to raise £80MILLION by selling a fraction of his club.

In the latest twist at crisis-hit Eastlands, the former Thai leader has instructed financial firms around the world to find him a partner willing to take between a 10 and 15 per cent stake.

Brokers Axiom Partners, for example, are looking for takers in the U.S.

Shinawatra does not want to give up power at City but the freezing of his assets has caused major problems while he fights corruption charges.

City executive chairman Garry Cook and Shinawatra's advisers are looking everywhere to raise money.

But as one would-be investor said: "The package values Manchester City at over £500million, which makes no sense at all."

Any info on this URG?

Cheers

Did Thaskin not buy out the entire club for close to 80m ?
Yep. Therefore, if (repeat IF) the People story is correct, the club is now valued at £533m (£80m divided by 15%= £5.33 (which obviously equates to 1% of the club). I don't think so!

Ha ha ha!!!

If he gets away with that deal, I'm going to sell a 10% share in my garden shed to any investor for £1m.

Any business person would seek and welcome a minority investment which covered off his own position.

Non-story.
