City clubcall?

Used to drive my mum mad many years ago running up huge bills phoning this to get latest news on city. Seemed to remember the introduction lasted 5 minutes.

Just trying to explain to my teenage daughters the changes in the last twenty years.

Anyone else used to use it?

I'm sure they used to do a ticket information line as well 10 minutes listening to crap before they actually told you what you needed to know ,but you had to ring it because the oticket office never answered the phone

city clubcall was one of the reasons stated in my divorce some 16 years ago, it was one of the only avenues for alleged up to the minute info back in the day.... best thing I ever did ringing city clubcall..... made a man of me!!!!

It must of been around 1992/93 because Im sure it always said 'City linked with 2 million pound england/french/ portuguese star'.

Enough to get me to call in. Yes pretty sure thats the right number

When City were looking for a new manager in summer 1995, I'd ring up Clubcall every day hoping for updates, oblivious of the cost as a naive teenager.

Eventually my dad took me to one side after seeing 0898 numbers repeatedly appear on the phone bill, assuming I was ringing sex lines. An awkward conversation ensued, but I just went along with it and apologised. Somehow it seemed more dignified than admitting that I was ringing Clubcall two times a day in the forlorn hope that we weren't really after Alan Ball.
