I know alot of you dont take to Chris Bailey but i totally agreed with him and Hinchcliffe tonight on the City Debate Show. I have been thinking along the same lines for the past few weeks. They basically said what i think below

I know most of the fans dont want your Parker's and Bellamy's but i disagree wholeheartedly. We all want the Kaka's and all these superstars but we need to build step by step in my eyes and get a strong team moulded together and this requires players with premier league experience, who play with passion and are half decent players. Parker, Bellamy, Cruz and Given definitly fit into this category. Along with Bridge i think these would mould well into our team to move us up a notch and get some steel in.

I think all these kind of players would fit well with the talented squad we have already (We do have some talent already we have shown this and we have some good players out injured). We need some fire in the team at present and need some people who can come in and talk and fire the other players up. We have missed this evidently, Parker, Bridge and Bellamy would go along way in spicing things up.

If we can finish top ten at least and keep going in the UEFA Cup. We have a good base for next year and would hopefully buy a couple of superstars in the Summer. Although i cant see us in Europe next year and hope this wont put the Big players off from coming. Next season is the big one and in my eyes we need to keep Hughes. Look at Villa for an example
Martin O'neill has bought Sidwell, Davis, Young, Knight, Carew all players we would probably turn down if we had the chance in the same position as what they were in a couple of seasons back. O'neill started off bad and won 1 in 20 games at one stage.. He has been given time and worked wonders. Lets get off Hughes back and give him time to mould his own team

bailey and hinch told it perfectly.........spot on...........step by step, not one massive leap........

Disagree with signing RSC to be honest. Given is a cracking goalie. Bellamy is a total nutter, and I'd have him, and Parker is a useful player (as they say). We have to do something about CBs. Imperative. No more sentiment or blather about potential. We need two CBs who are NOT going to put pressure on, we need two who are REPLACEMENTS, end of.

Totally agree with that, build a strong platform, with proven, experienced premiership players and then add a few superstars.
Priority at the moment is the defence, maybe move Kompany there (plus A N Other), and get Parker plus a nasty bastard in midfield

fair point. I'm mellowing a bit from my anti-Hughes stance it has to be said. However that's only because it's January, a month when Hughes can only get better as he IS actually very good in the transfer market.

One thing for sure we need at least 4 or 5 players this transfer window. If we dont their is no hiding the fact we are in for a relegation battle.

We shouldn't be though, that's the problem with Hughes. We've got a team full of international players either playing out of position, not playing at all, or not wanting to play. Sure, we've got a new manager but he should still be able to man-manage and play players in their correct positions!

I'm with you. I think he's not good enough but, in an almost de niro-esque conversion, I only want to support the boys, even if I don't care for some of them.

I heard snippets on my way to footy [I think it's repeated at around 8pm tomorrow] and CB talks some sense. I went to school with AH and he's always seemed a sensible fella to me. So Cb may be correct in saying that we need the likes of Bellamy for now. We won't be in the UEFA Cup again until at least 2010 and the CL only in 2011 if we are lucky. That's a long time to wait for the Special One [who seems destined for OT anyway] and thus it seems that we should now just get on with it, as we have always done.

So judging from this season
we are going 2 steps back?????????

Disagree there. We have lacked steel for sometime now. We can score goals but are too soft on the oppo and often get bulled out of matches.
We need a spine of experienced prem players and then can add the wizards.

Why do we need a spine of experienced prem players exactly???

What has been wrong with Kompany, Zab and Robby exactly?

I see that MH has finally managed to win people over that rather than bring in decent, proven international players, that are difficult to manage, we need to build a team of fucking ankle kickers that are easy to manage, and will grind out a top 10 position, rather than build on the top 10 position that we had last season.

It amazes me the way people can be so easily brain washed. I weep for this club.

here here well said

I'm just watching this programme now. It's hilarious. They just said "we need someone who will come out and kick a few ankles, and Bellamy will do that, a bit like Dickov used to!" PMSL.

Oh fuck me, for the love of god....no. I can't watch any more. It's like a MH promotional video.

Re Man CityFC You have just proved my point you said Kompany, Zab and Robby as our spine. Dont forget that they are in their first season in the premiership, they are all great players but experience obviously comes with time and they are all still finding there feet. In my opinion they need players around them who have been there and done it who are still doing a good job. I'am as frustrated as anyone and want some relative success now but we all need to realise to be patient and let the team slowly grow stronger and get more resilient and then we can add new world class players to compliment the team. This is just my own opinion

What like all the players this manager has alienated?
