City delegation due in Avignon this Thursday

An Avignon-based Blue here with a minor SCOOP!

Imagine my surprise when I noticed today's local paper (Dimanche Vaucluse Matin) leading with the story that a City delegation is due in Avignon on Thursday for talks about a link up between selves and AC Arles/Avignon.

According to the paper, several meetings have already taken place. And the general idea is that our young players can come out here on loan, plus the odd friendly etc.

It really was front page news. To put that in context, they gave it the WHOLE front page - not counting a side story about some pirates in the Indian Ocean and an avert for 'Standia' who are having a liquidation sale on their sofas (thirty per cent off).

The article (us, not Standia) was continued inside - along with a run down on most of our squad.

Not earth-shattering news, I know. But I thought you might like to know.

Am going to phone AC Arles/Avignon tomorrow to see if they need anyone to translate...

A sofa company's called STANDia? And if it's a liquidation sale, why only 30% of the tight b@stards!

Do they have decent sofas? Should I put in an order with Gary Cook to get me a decent 3-piece, but if they've got a decent corner sofa thing I'd go for that instead. He'd have to ring me to run it past me first, I don't want him and Bernard Halford knocking on my door with a sofa that knocks me sick when I look at it. I know Cook will say "It's 30% scall, what you moaning for", Bernard Halford would be telling Gary he told him he should have rung me before they bought it. Then next thing know I'm reluctantly accepting the sofa because I've got them two having an argument about it on the street, and they have to get the van back to Salford Van Hire by 5pm or they'll lose the deposit.

They're getting the shop-fitters in, apparently. But you'll need to hurry. Sale ends 21 November.

The photo they used for the ad was a white leather with brown trimming corner sofa with a sort of extra bit that I suppose you're supposed to stretch your legs on. Not to my taste, to be honest. But each to his own.

For the record, the photo the used for us was of "Le Brésilien Robinho" in last season's kit against Arsenal.

Kind of like the sound of that leather corner sofa, especially with the foot rest element. Might ask Cookie to take a picture of it and some measurements just in case. If he can work his MMS then he might be able to send a picture of it, send it to me and I can just hold my phone up in my living room and picture it more easily. Hopefully Gary could stump up the cash in advance to pay for it, otherwise I might have to ring the shop my credit card details. Would they be a reputable company to give my card details over the phone to? I've got a GCSE in French so I'll make sure they don't think "he he, English man, ha ha, let's rip him him off" and only give me a "vingt"% discount instead of "trente% discount. I bet they'd do that you, bet they would. They need the money, so they'll try and make a quick Euro wherever they can.
