Okay, it is the News of the World (though they did break the Tevez story) but if it is true, good on City for refusing to be taken advantage of.

Manchester City demand £8m from Sunderland for permanent signing of Nedum Onuoha - report

Sunderland will be forced to find £8 million should they want to keep on-loan Nedum Onuoha, as the player's parent club Manchester City are taking a hard-line on transfers, reports The News of the World.

The Black Cats want to keep the ex-England Under-21 star, but City are unlikely to budge on the asking price.

The 24-year-old reportedly wants out of Eastlands now that his career has taken a turn for the better since moving to the Stadium of Light in August.

Onuoha made just seven starts during his time with City but has subsequently enjoyed an upturn in first-team football opportunities since he was shipped out on loan.

City will be prepared to offload the defender, and other stars that aren’t getting the first-team football they want, during the transfer window - but not at any price.

The Eastlands club will from now on only entertain sensible bids for their want-away stars, or loan deals that cover the entirety of their wages, after coming under fire for their financial losses.

Onuoha, who has become a favourite among Sunderland fans, scored a memorable goal for the Wearsiders at Stamford Bridge in their 3-0 win over Chelsea in November.

7 Starts? Pretty sure he's made more starts than that in all the years he's been involved in the first team

Watched a few of Sunderland's games and he has been outstanding. They are getting him cheap for £8m.

How come he was always injured with us, but appears to have no such problems at the Mackems?

Isn't he on a season long loan? If he is there is no need to sell him now wait till summer any money we receive then will be positive side of the accounts for FFP.
