city fan banned

As I remember it, there were lots of fans on here after getting back from Germany saying that the behaviour of some fans towards the Thomas Cook staff was disgraceful and an embarrassment to the club. I might be wrong, but I seem to remember Coach 1 being the focal point of this.

Now I don't know if this guy was involved in abusing the staff or if he was even on that coach, but this abuse definitely happened and his only defence seems to be "Yeah, I was hurling abuse at people, but so were loads of other people. Why pick on me?"

I'm sorry, but this is the sort of defence a child comes out with shortly after getting caught doing something naughty at school and spitting his dummy out. If he did something wrong, he should be dealt with. The fact that others aren't being treated the same way is, I'm afraid, completely irrelevant. They got away with it, he didn't. Tough shit.

Take it on the chin and serve the punishment without whining to the press, cos that certainly won't help push the club to overturn the ban.

Knowing Dave P as well as I do,if he says Paul didnt do anything, take it as read.I also know the lad having gone to
away games, and I was surprised as anyone when I read it.I was also amazed that in Salford,it was on the billboards!? Was there nothing happening yesterday in the world more important,or was it just to demean City's name?

I was on one of the coaches, not coach 1 though and can see why people were getting frustrated. We would have mede it on time but for some reason the coaches all stopped to wait for a police escort that never happened, as a result we missed the match. Now when you have forked out over 200 quid to go on the offical club trip and theyu dont get you there on time youre going to be pissed off. The TC people were giving us no information as to where we were, how far away we were, what was going on etc, people had been drinking all day and were bound to get getting frustrated. Its easy to throw stones whilst sat in Dubai isnt it when you werent there?

Typical city!, I'm glad I made different travel arrangements for the European away games that I have been to. Having travelled to a few away games with Paul and his friends this season and in the past, i can say for sure that this has been blown out of all proportions, as Dave P mentions Paul was trying to calm other friends down and has seemingly been dragged into this when everything has already been sorted. Why dont City do the decent thing and let him back in?

Don,

I was there and know the lads (as more than one has been banned).

One was banned for threatening behaviour, one for smoking on the bus and Paul Farrell has been banned for threatening behaviour. In reality, I suspect that this is mistaken identity and he has actually been banned for just being there. Two lads got into an argument over a girl who was playing the pair of them off. This became apparent in Cologne and they were both bevvied up and gutted over what was happening.

Paul Farrell junior was not one of the two and has been blamed when he did nothing more than trying to calm his two friends down. That is why he was in the thick of it.

Someone on here has said a lad went onto another coach to throw a punch. Whilst a punch may have been thrown, it was not by the lad pictured in the Evening News as he didn't go onto another coach. He went with me to Burger King and then straight back onto our coach.
I know all of the lads involved and they are gutted that this went on. Some were guilty of what they have been accused of and will accept their bans. Paul is innocent and has just been dragged into this.

I know the lad in the picture was totally innocent and unfortunately people who know nothing or put two and two together and made five are spouting on here. But people will always have their say even if they are totally wrong.
Take your case to City then mate. Seems there was a right carry on though, as i said i remember people comeing on here after the trip saying fans were well out of order but so were the TC REPS .any way mate how about helping with us on the Bucket Collection

The only person to back up this guy is his dad it would seem. If, as City claim, they have numerous different people claiming hie was offensive etc then he should be banned. Not every City fan that gets banned is a miscarriage of justice, some of them are knobheads who are acting like knobheads
========================

In a statement, Manchester City said: "The fan in question was identified by several different parties, including club staff, German and British police, and fellow supporters, as being extremely abusive over a sustained period of time.

"Other allegations against him of criminal damage and smoking have not been proven and as a result of this, a decision was made to ban Mr Farrell from all home and away games for the rest of the season.

Fans grassing fellow fans up again.........
and the other allegations dropped because they couldn't be proven... in a court of law this would be 'no case to answer'

Matty, please explain why he should be banned again? Whats this got to do with MCFC or is in any way football related...

I'm at the CSA Meeting before the game and will have my lad with me. Rest assured I will chip in again for this worthwhile fund and hope lots of others do as well !!

Err.....because club staff, german and british police and fellow supporters identified him as being extremely abusive perhaps? I'd suggest the fact he was on an away trip to watch Manchester City would 'kind of' make this something MCFC might want to get involved in and might somehow make it football related. The smoking and criminal damage allegations were dropped, the abusive behaviour wasn't.

Would you not speak out if you had payed half a weeks wages to see a match an they did not deliver due to setting off in rush hour cutting it very fine?

Who were all these police on the coach?

Was there an identity parade?

Did the riot outside the stadium occur?

Corky,

Thanks for your comments.

My previous posts have confirmed that I was present and saw what happened on the coach. There were numerous people shouting and if fairness were quite heated and abusive. On an earlier thread it was suggested that there were 6 or 7 people involved so why didn't the reast of the coach say something? Well that remains a mystery. It is also suggested that a British Police Officer witnessed these events, so by implication he was on the coach. Given his position, he could have gone to those involved and identified that he was a Police Officer and that he would be watching what went on and what was said and that he would give a statement identifying those involved. He did nothing.

There has already been an alleged witness on here (Mattyctid) who has positively identified Paul Farrell and his girlfriend. Paul Farrell was not one of the two males involved in the initial arguments and the female who was central to this was definately not his girlfriend.

Incidentally, the Police spoke to my cousin and not Paul Farrell, so for all of the witnesses who think they know what went on, can you be sure of your facts? If you can't, you shouldn't be posting on here when your comments are likely to do more harm than good.

Not wishing to defend people here but to accuse the TC staff on the coaches isnt fair. I was on coach 6 and yes we had to go to the service station to await the police escort.
Drink had been enjoyed all day in Cologne and even at the pick up point at 4pm there were a couple of lads getting abit handy with each other. When the police hadnt arrived the TC lad on our coach tried contacting his boss via mobile phone and relayed what information he was given to everyone on the coach. Trouble was there was 3 seperate road accidents on route from Cologne to the ground. he kept trying to ring to get the latest info, but you can imagine 10 coaches all with a TC rep on board trying to get through to find out what was happening,it wasnt easy and I felt sorry for him.He didnt tell anyone any lies , he relayed info that he was being given, sounds like some ITK's on here!!
Some of the "older" fans on the coach tried to calm the younger more drunken element down. To be honest I was disgusted with the attitude of some of them, what did they expect him to do for god sake. anyway we got there eventually and missed the first 10 minutes.

I did see some trouble at the service area coming from coach 1 with a couple of lads having a go at each other and having to be seperated, was told it was over a girl. Might be the incident behind the original story

Bluwes -You are quite correct that there was an altercation between the two lads who had been played off against each other. They were on separate coaches from Cologne to the services. The simple fact is that the lad who stands accused of being threatening, was not one of the two who was involved, he was elsewhere.
