These guys just don't get it - it is beyond their comprehension. They are used to reporting & trying to second guess the spending patterns of clubs with a limited transfer budget. What we are witnessing now is unprecedented. We have now become, financially, the most powerful organisation in the world of sport - there is no other sporting organisation that can compete on our terms &, although we have a limit, there is no player that is beyond our financial reach. We still have some way to go to compete on the field, but once we do then watch out because we will become the club of choice for the best players in the world.
I've heard the 1 player for 100m or 5 for 20m argument a lot over the last few days but what they are failing to realise, & this is where their capacity to reason is lacking, is that our owners are looking at 6 players for 200m if it is right for the club.
