Legendary photographer and lifelong blue Sefton Samuels has an exhibition currently showing at the museum entitled

WHEN FOOTBALL WAS FOOTBALL: THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF SEFTON SAMUELS, 1960S-1980S

Runs until December 31. Images of Joe, Big Mal, the 5-1 etc as well as images of the odd lot, the cult etc

Free entry if you are a city of Manchester resident.

The exhibition was featured at the end of this mornings Football Focus. The show closed with a photo of Joe Mercer and Albert Alexander with the FA Cup in 1969. Like this:-

Yeah that’s where I spotted it, hadn’t heard about it before, will go have a look next week
Samuels is brilliant, his book Northerners is a classic

What are these photographs,??? We have no history lol!!! Those were the days when winning the fa cup was a massive thing, the only game except internationals that was shown live on TV.

I’ve been following City since the team photos were done by cave painting and trophy parades were done on bison instead of buses.

No istree they say…
