is this the worst outcome and does it mean we cant buy players now as 50m is a lot to pay out?

Laws apply, whether it is invitation only or not.

It's hard to argue in a court of law against rulings for an invite only competition. Essentially, City may escape having the fine but UEFA could easily retaliate by withdrawing future invitations. UEFA control the Champions League, not City.
You haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about you twat.

LOL you never change hahaha.

Sam did you see my question what does this mean for us with regards to home grown players? Do we have to hang on to Rodwell, Micah and the rest now as we cannot have more than 21 players in the CL squad?

What does this mean in that regard?

Re: City & FFP (continued)

£50m? That doesn't sound very financially fair to me. How do we balance the books with that?

What a load of bollocks, appeal it and in the meantime they will not be able to actually proceed with the charges or sanctions and by the time it reaches the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Messi will be a FIFA Ambassador promoting the next World Cup in Argentina whilst introducing the next load of drivel that the governing body come up with.

OK I'll outline a few basic points for you:
-The EU and EU law take precedence over everyone else - they're the biggest fish in the pond
-You cannot limit equity investment under EU law
-You cannot limit salaries under EU law without the prior agreement of the workers affected, this hasn't been done with footballers
-FFPR aren't fit for their stated purpose - they limit investment not debt. (so not viable)
-Places in the Champions League have never been awarded via invite, they are awarded via merit and have been every season - top 3 in England, Spain, Germany plus Playoff round winners etc etc etc - UEFA can claim it's an invite only competition, but it won't stand up in a court of law
-Antitrust law forbids Cartels - the CL will be in danger of being named such a Cartel if it's turned into a closed shop through UEFA regulations.
Comprende?

When you see that mate, its mad isn't it? imagine what a TOP barrister would make of it all, no offence to yourself like
J.L. Duponte? :)

I read that some of the principles of FFP are likely to be found to be legal, particularly with regard to promoting financial stability. And the huge reductions in debt across European football is likely to be viewed favourably by the courts.

But the caveat is that it cannot be used to prevent the introduction of competitors, to preserve a cartel. Which is obviously where FFP falls down.
