We are NOT accepting guilt. Read the statement.
I've read the statement a number of times and there are fine words for sure. However, as I said the "...accepting guilt..." is implicit from our acceptance of the sanctions, irrespective of fine words on a bloody website.

No it isn't!

We have agreed not to take legal action but threatened to do it if they start messing us about.

Why be so down on the club as to say that ? 'Fine words' ? It's a complete and utter rejection of any wrongdoing NOT an acceptance of guilt.

We clearly say, we have NOT broken the rules, we just don't want to embark on a legal battle, due to the adverse effects it could have. Does anyone think it WOULDN'T have adverse effects ?

UEFA clearly disagree, have decided that we have broken the rules and imposed a series of sanctions on us.

Why would you rock up at court having done fuck all, argued for the duration of your trail that your are not guilty, produce a load of evidence proving you are not guilty but then accept a 5 year stretch as part of a plea bargain and shut off the appeal process to boot?

Bowing out of the thread now and going back to the beer as I am fucking dumbfounded as to how this is a victory for Manchester City Football Club in any way, shape or form.

Ok, you are walking down the street and a copper stops you and tries to issue you with a spot fine for something you've not done. Do you accept it and in the process confirm your guilt or do you fight your corner and say "sorry plod, see you in court"?

I'm not clever enough to understand the ins and outs of football politics and the subtle nuances of how to play the corridors of power in Nyon so forgive me if my approach is somewhat naive and simplistic. However from where I am sat we've given every **** under the sun license to say "City were fined for failing FFP ergo they cheated, they cooked the books".

UEFA know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

ECA know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

The Premier League know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

City know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

You know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

Even I know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

Why the fuck are we accepting this?

We'll said mate , fucking makes my blood boil when someone tells you how to think about this, have your own thoughts and be pissed off if you want
I am , big time

Exactly. If I see one more person trying to twist this as a victory for the club I'm gonna tear my hair out. It's impossible for it to be a victory for the club because the club has been fucking shafted. And by bending over and taking that shafting every journalist, TV pundit, football fan, man on the street is going to think we cooked the books and are cheats. I'm livid the club has not fought this.

It stinks, but the potential consequences of mounting a full blown legal challenge included, in no particular order:

1. Being banned from the CL for a couple of years whilst the legal process took place
2. Potentially losing our best players because of that ban
3. No guarantee of victory at the end of it
4. Pissing UEFA off to the point we would never be invited to play in the CL again, or worse still bankrupting them and leaving the cartel to run the game completely, in their absence.

We were up against bent cunts, and all things considered we've escaped relatively unscathed (a Candlepool or Arseholenal appeal notwithstanding). Do you not think if it was as simple as just challenging UEFA in Court, winning, and all living happily ever after, our owners wouldn't have taken that option?

Anyway £60m buys us Sagna, Fernando, mangala and enough for a £20m signing on top. With Jovetic being like a new signing that's more than enough.

And that's without outgoings.

I suspect with a few outgoings we will have 80m to spend I would have been amazed had we spent more than that!

Remember we can get loans and sign people Milan style as well so if there is one we really need above this we could probably get more and comply

why should we even try to comply with made up cartel shite that means absolutely nowt?

tell them to fuck off and take it legal all the way to the ECJ

You don't own the club
You're not the MD, you're not on the board, it's not your decision to make
You're not the legal representatives.

No one on here, or in the media, knows why the decision was made. There's a broad press statement raising some factors but it's entirely possible the club said 'it's a one year impediment, let it go'.

Sometimes in legal situations you let stuff go, because it's too much effort, or cost or too risky to push ahead, even if you're in the right.

Who gives a fuck what random other people you don't give a shit about (seriously, journalists and pundits?) think?

+1 this needed cool heads; intelligent consideration and measured actions that ensure we can proceed as WE planned rather than how other people THINK we were going to proceed. We are going to buy exactly who we wanted…..

Basically, UEFA excluded the revenue from selling IP rights to the City Football Group (about £25m) which meant that we failed FFP by about £15m and couldn't remove the wages from pre June 2010 contracts (about £80m) leaving a total failure of £95m. The Etihad deal is fine as is the sale of IP to an unknown party.
I don't agree with that BA. In the PSG statement, it specifically mentioned that the QTA deal had been significantly reduced but it didn't say anything about exclusions in our statement. But the club/UEFA statement talked about not including such deals in future accounts. I take that to mean that they couldn't remove them from our calculation (as there were no grounds in the FFP rules to do so) but came to a face-saving agreement, which is meaningless as they were one-offs, not to include these in future.

It seems from the club statement it's the £80m they've screwed us on, having assured people (not just us) that there was scope for excluding some of the wages on re-negotiated contracts. As I said, it was Swiss Ramble who told me this and he'd got it straight from Nyon.

Now I've reviewed the PSG deal, you're probably right.

For the 1st time since we sacked Joe Royle am truly dissapointed with City. We've been dictated too by bent cartel twats and its a stick we will be beaten with for the next few years. I'm also wise to the fact not to believe so called bluemoon experts anymore. I still think that lawyer will bring ffp to its knees but still City have left everyone of us fans having to defend ourselves to gobshites for the next 2 years. Employ better financial people city ffs. Always a blue no matter what, see the username.

Stop being so dramatic, in life you have to compromise sometimes, take the pragmatic route, sometimes make the other party look like they have won so they can save face and most importantly you pick your battles! Stop being worried what other may say it matter not

It's feels like your mum has gone round to the scum bag next door to say sorry and pay up for a window you didn't break but they say you did.

You were ready to argue the toss but she would rather not have the grief of having your house arsened ( no pun intended) .

Any how she knows they will be evicted this time next year

You feel bad about it but get the reason why she did it.
Thing is my mum would have stuck up for me.
Maybe but you'd be homeless, possession less and she's have two black eyes and a broken rib was that worth €50

It's far less risky to let someone else do it ;-)

Awww. Feel really sorry for you having to defend City …… you'll have to point out that we are double winners this year - just keep saying that

Re: City & FFP (continued)

This will of curse scare away some glory hunters, cause this pretty much eliminates real ''boom'' signings, like 100+ M for 1 player lol, but don't think that was intended to be our style anyways. On the plus side this makes me believe that there is bigger chance that our academy stars like Lopez will get chance in our team, cause even if for now we are pretty much untouched, but when our squad will start to age we will have to compete with teams that make more money than us and pay more than us, and sheikh wont be able just to spend his own money this time
