I personally believe the way FFP was squeezing everyone, our owners and powers that be had found perfectly legitimate ways to circumvent the 'fair play' rule.
Many on here were suggesting a likely spend of circa £100 million this year. If true we would have been competing with Chelsea, United, Madrid and Bayern for players. Now PSG are back in, others can now join the party.
I believe UEFA thought they'd found a way to stop us, but our revenue making machine and CFG were making a mockery of FFP and our revenues weren't far off surpassing our rivals. We would have been within our own rights to up our Etihad deal.
The shirt & stadium sponsorship deal is only worth £25.5 million per annum, way under valued, with inflation of TV revenues going through the roof, our hand was very strong. Due to the popularity of the Prem could have seen us double that deal fairly.
We'd beat FFP in the main, it was now protecting us. I fear this is why there's been the lifting of certain rules.
Fuck that, I hope Sunderland,Leicester and Bournemouth get taken over by multi billionaires along with 2 or 3 clubs in every fucking major league just to watch the self entitled, arrogant, whiny, deluded c**ts shit themselves when they realise their Champions League spots will never, ever be safe again.
Surely West Ham have got to be the best bet for a takeover by a rich owner? Large loyal support base, 12 months away from moving into a 54,000 seater stadium, and of course being located in London which gives them almost limitless potential on the corporate hospitality side. Spurs in particular will be shitting it but even Arsenal and Chelsea could be under threat long-term. Bring it on!
