City in the UEFA Cup 76-79

My memory of that Juventus match was Barnes leading Gentile a merry dance as Barnes kept swapping wings and Gentile was getting fed up having to run so far.

I missed the Borussia match stuck on a train between Sheffield and Manchester as I had been for a University interview. Got to the ground at the final whistle just so that I could meet up with my Dad and get a lift home.

Here is a rundown of the games:

76/77
Juventus
1-0 home
0-2 away

77/78
Widzew Lodz
2-2 home
0-0 away

78/79
FC Twente
1-1 away
3-2 home

Standard Liege
4-0 home
0-2 away

AC Milan
2-2 away
3-0 home

Borussia Monchengladbach
1-1 home
1-3 away

I went to all the home games above and the FC Twente away game. There were 500 official blues there along with 100's of British troops who'd travelled from bases in nearby Germany.
The trip was organised by the Piccadilly branch of the supporters club, anyone else on that trip?
My season ticket in the Kippax that year was £11, the match ticket at Twente was £5!
Happy days

One of the best matches for me was watching City beat AC Milan 3-0 now that was an awesome night, got to see Gianni Rivera play against City, but we just took it to them that night..........

Was in the Main Stand for the Lodz game..... along with what seemed like a few hundred Poles. Think every Polish exile in Manchester was at the game. Did we go 2 up in that only to be pegged back?? damn my memory !!
Yes I think we did go 2 up in that game, it was Boniek who turned the game around - remember the blue running onto the pitch from the North Stand and giving Boniek abuse for diving? UEFA ordered us to put those bloody fences up after that.

Think the referee had a hand in turning it round, i think we were 2-0 up, then had a red for Donachie, the rest is history.

I still got some of the old European programmes.
