They've used a giant sledgehammer wrapped in red tape to crack a walnut. To go from the free-for-all that we had pre-FFP to what we have now is literally insane.
I completely understand the need to have spending limits, but like Martin Samuel said, they should be universal. That would be the very definition of financial fair play and would have been hugely beneficial to the Premier League as a whole.
When I explain this to fans of other clubs, the vast majority nod along in agreement that it would be the fairest, most logical solution. And that's all City have ever wanted — a genuinely level playing field.
What we've ended up with instead is so obviously skewed in favour of the cartel clubs that it's mental it's taken the likes of Aston Villa and Everton so long to realise it's all been a massive stitch up.
Having the member clubs of the Premier League being the decision makers may appear to be a socialist utopia at first glance, but it sits at the heart of everything that's gone wrong. Far too much self-interest and greed, and very little thought about the overall good of the league.
We all know which clubs were responsible for that decision back in 1992 and it's clear why they made it, as they're still fucking everyone else over to this very day.
You're spot on mate. They've done well to maintain this illusion of competition for as long as they have and we all know if it was united, Arsenal or Liverpool winning four in a row the narrative would be very different.
City's titles, if stripped go to those three teams, they're not distributed amongst the league. As you say, shouldn't have taken this long for Villa and Everton to wake up. They wasted years hating the wrong team.
