The media and online forums these days are obsessed with stats and records, most of which mean absolutely fuck all to match going fans. Some geeks might want to know how far a player has run in a game, how many blades of grass were destroyed in a game, how much paint was chipped off the post by a Sergio shot, whoopie dooo!

Winning runs look good but if a team wins it's first 25 games, which IS magnificent and gets 75 points, then falls to bits in the last 13 games and wins nothing, do you think their fans would be happy with that?

Liverpool have to win their first 19 games THIS season, then they have beaten our record. I believe they are capable of it just as we are capable of winning another 18 in a row from here. Capable but unlikely.

This is the media giving the Liverpool players something to hang onto, their unbeaten run last season gave them extra momentum in tight games. The mental aspect of the game is a huge part of the puzzle for successful teams. It could work in their favour again since they responded well to it last season, or they could get complacent and just expect things to fall in their favour. It weirdly has been for a long time in those kind of games, how will they respond when that stops happening?

I do think this forum underestimates this Liverpool team. They are exceptional and have been even more consistent than us in the league since the start of last season. 108 points for us since then. They have 112.

They are a bloody good team - world class even - and will need some long term injuries of their own for us to overcome the Laporte and Sané injuries.

People have this idea that because they’ve never won the Premier League it means they never will. If that were true, we wouldn’t have 4 of them.
