just read about an all time city 11 from a while ago on the M.E.N and wondering what the older generation think off that squad vs the current squad

Haven't been alive long enough to see most of the old guard play but I think our current team would beat them.

NO Mick Doyle or Nelly? You're havin' a laugh. Also, can't remember Pardoe ever playing left back.
As for ROBINHO - sorry, but your credibility went straight out the window with that. Friggin' Bellamy was better than him.

-- Fri Sep 02, 2011 6:54 am --

I have - and they wouldn't.

Always going to be difficult given we have to condense quite a few players from a larger period of time into a team of eleven versus the current team, but quite a few at least are a dead cert or close to like Bell, Buzzer, Lee, Dave Watson, Mick Doyle, Lakey etc, then the likes of Francis, Anelka, the Goat, Colin Hendry, but Robinho ? This kid should be nowhere near that team.
It would have been fun to watch Mick Doyle waiting in the tunnel at half-time for an under-performing Robinho though, worth the entrance money alone I'd say.

The classic City team of Dave Ewing and ten others of any period from 1894 would be run ragged by the current crop! There might be one or two 'unfortunate injuries' to our current stars but quality will rise to the top by the final whistle.

where did Pardoe play if it wasnt left back?

Robinho ,complete joke.Nelly every time.

the current squad would batter anyone, though you have to factor in improved fitness, improved diet, less mud, no fags at half time and the ball not weighing three stone by the end of the match.....
