My mum has just given me two homemade scrapbooks from the 1950's
they had been in her friends loft for the past 50 years and my mums friend was going to bin them, but my mum rescued them and gave them to me.
They were left in the house by the previous owner in 1970 ish
They were put together by Anthony Ralls of Cheadle Hulme and cover the 1951 - 1952 season
They are mixture of newspaper cuttings and hand written match reports.
They are unbelievably fascinating

I am not looking to sell them, so dont ask.
I am however willing to lend them to a historian (Gary James or someone similar) so just send me a PM. I will want them back and posting is not an option they are v v fragile.

The main reason I am posting is for the long shot that some of Anthonys relatives or even Anthony himself post on here and might want to see them again.
If you know Anthony or the Ralls family just PM me and we can go from there.

I could photograph and post some pages on here if anyone is interested.

I started being taken in 1950 at 8 years of age and would love to see snipets from the scrapbooks posted, your so lucky your mum saved them give her my thanks. This post is the best one for 2021 by a mile.

Love this sort of stuff, entered one of my scrapbooks of newspaper cuttings, stickers, football cards etc on the run to the 81 final for a project at primary school and they got Dave Bennett, who lived opposite, to come over to have a look at it. Wish I still had it

My Dad started a scrap book fill of newspaper cuttings of the 1956 FA Cup Final just before I was born in June 1956.
I'll try to put some images on this thread tomorrow morning if anybody is interested!!
I am trying to upload the photos of the newspaper clippings from 1956 Cup Final but it keeps saying that the image is too big for the server to process.
Can anyone give me any advice as I have about 9 photos to upload.
Thanks.

Are you doing it from a phone? You can sometimes resize them directly from there before you upload.
Alternatively, call up the picture on your phone and take a screenshot to create a new picture, then upload that.
This usually works

On your phone go to your gallery
Click on an image and tap the icon that looks like a crayon, (that allows you to edit the image)
Tap the three dot icon on the top right
Click "reduce" and then reduce the image to 40% and then click "save"
It will then load onto the site
