City set to dominate Utd for a generation

The article is superficial in its reasoning as to the root causes and symptoms of united’s decline, which extend way beyond poor player recruitment.

Their problems are structural and systemic and relate (inter alia) to their ownership personnel, levels of debt, corporate structure, ineffectual senior management, a culture of complacency and ossification, crumbling infrastructure and a greatly diminished and declining youth set-up. Not only are they being cast adrift, but there are are no discernible means in place to address that. If and when they wake up, it will take at least half a decade to turn the tanker around, if the will is there to endure the pain and patience that will entail.

In short, they are fucked.

Have you been wolfing down a bit of thesaurus pie, GDM?

But, but, but.... David Gill said we'd never sell as many shirts as them in China.
I’d probably agree on that. Red being a special colour in the minds of Chinese and other Asian countries.
But that still leaves ... South America, India, Middle East, Africa, Central America , Antarctica...

Why north America? if you don't mind me asking.
Not in the slightest.

It's a growing market, obviously, but it's also the wealthiest and the one most likely to buy bona fide merchandise. A significant proportion of football gear in Asia is snide, something the American and Canadian middle-class kids (or rather their parents) are likely to principally avoid. As living standards rise in Latin America that too will be an important market, especially for us. It's all very good wanking into a frenzy about the number of supporters in Malaysia, but the reality is that the money per head those fans bring into united and Liverpool is pitiful.

It's the perks of having an incredibly well run club which has a clear and concise plan. United are a mess, we're constantly planning and are becoming more and more innovative.

I’ve never understood the obsession about having the most fans in Asia. I travelled a lot of Asia last year and all you see is fake football tops being worn. It’s not like they can afford to walk into a shop and pay the going prices like we have to back home.
