Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez says his goals for the team are dedicated to the club's supporters.
Tevez struck a hat-trick in the 3-0 win over ten-man Wigan at Eastlands on Monday, taking his tally for the season to 25.
The Argentine has quickly earned the respect of City supporters, despite his ties to bitter rivals Manchester United, who he signed from in the close season.
A delighted Tevez said he was happy with his side's performance in the win over Roberto Martinez's team, revealing his fine displays throughout the campaign have all been in the fans' honour.
Very happy
The 26-year-old said: "I am very happy with the win and very happy for the team. It was important we won and important to score the goals for the fans because I play for the team.
"All the goals I have got are for the fans and the team. It feels great to be here and get all this support when I am on the pitch."
Victory for the Blues put Roberto Mancini's side back in the running for the fourth UEFA Champions League spot, lifting them up to fifth - two points behind Tottenham, who currently occupy the coveted position.
Emmanuel Adebayor returned to the team following a four-game ban, but looked sluggish as his strike partner stole the show.
And with seven games remaining, Mancini stressed the importance of the Togolese star regaining his fitness as he looks to the former Arsenal man and Tevez to plunder the goals needed to book a top-four spot.
Good chance
The Italian believes securing a European berth is possible - but warned his charges they must improve on the showing offered against the struggling Latics, starting with their next encounter against relegation-threatened Burnley.
He said: "I hope that Emmanuel will play better because it will be important for us. We need him and Carlos to be 100%.
"We need to fight in the last seven games and we know it will be difficult when we face Burnley.
"I want us to play better than against Wigan because we have the players. I want my team to play good football.
"A Champions League place? It is in our hands. It depends on us. We have a good chance."
I'd like to send out a tribute to Carlos Tevez who has been the best player for Manchester City without a doubt. 25 goals (19 league, 6 cup) and for his non stop bull dog like approach this season he has been the man of the moment in nearly all of our games. Let's hope he can continue his form and carry us to fourth spot.
Thank You Carlos, our little Argentinian goal machine.
