city taking legal action

this has been coming since the kaka deal, there was a lot of shit flying about city, from people like whelan(wigan) and that red box holder gordon taylor, there was too many people sticking there hore in to our business, in any other walk of life it would have been claimed to be industrial espionage, ie we were talking 100 mill deal, sky were one of the main culprits organising rent a crowd through sky italia, the shit we hear about our club is bordering on hippocritical jealousy and needs to be erradicated as soon as possible, there as only been one or two people who have said anything decent about our club in the past few weeks so this has been coming for months ?

I really wouldn't of cared if it was true or not, I only just heard about it before and I just assumed at first it was related to players who we were trying to sign..go figure.

But I will enjoy seeing the Sun make a retraction.

A friend of mine was only asking the other day if I loved all the money at City, I actually answered that I preferred the way City were being run so professionally - and meant it! This is another good example of City not taking any shit - well done Gary & Co.

Bang on. Haven't we taken a solicitor onto the books and set up our own legal department rather than outsourcing it.

Our head of legal is not a litigator - he worked on the acquisition... If we do take this forward then we will outsource it as virtually no company bothers with having in-house litigators.

Feels a little like sabre rattling to me - I'd be surprised to see us go through with it. We'll probably just force them to print an apology and retraction.

f---k the retraction, they need to beat them to a pulp in court so it is stopped, othrwise they will all think ho well we will say what we want sell a shit load of papers then appologise later?

No it doesn't. You could not be more wrong. The newspaper lawyer will be happy as he gets to go to court and bill for the priviedge. However, as it is wrong and could be considered slander as it paints Man City in a bad light. Squadering £168k on 4 players for watches. Cause divisions in the team etc etc.

It's not slander. It would/will not get anywhere near a court and you, my friend, are talking utter shite. Sorry, but you are totally wrong. I know it's just your opinion but please don't try to pass off cobblers such as this, as fact. Apart from that you have a good point. No offence meant.

I'm currently having a year off studying (law) and have spent the best part of it working in the legal departments of near enough all national newspapers.

1)The lawyers aren't generally fussed about going to court as they are in-house and will (at best) get a basic solicitors rate for their costs.

2) As Kinky by Name says, there's no chance this would get anywhere near a court. Correction or apology at the very best.

Not saying they should be allowed to get away with it though.
