A lot of moaning on here when the reality is different.
The established clubs in Europe have had their way, working with the regulatory bodies for so long now that they got comfortable. It was easy for them to dominate domestically and to keep the euro competition (champs league mainly) income to themselves.
We came along and spoiled the party - we haven’t done anything illegal, have played the game with waffa and fifa and yes stretched the rules at time but that’s not what has got the back up of the old guard.
What really has got to them is our approach, globalisation of the business model, new fresh thinking which, in effect, has worked brilliantly.
It’s been said many times that our management team offered this model up at Barca but it was turned down - so it’s not new thinking, just the first time it’s been applied and had weight put behind it:
We are agents of change as CFG and City, and people resist change - this is why we are a constant target.
The press just roll with the stories, they want views, they want advertising revenue, so they pander to the masses. Give it 10 years and city fans will be the masses; this is the long term vision of our owners. Large scale support and audience - larger revenues across the globe.
Change is what the establishment hate, not city - we are just the current vehicle of expression of this in the game.
