Fluid Sports, a division of licensing consultancy Fluid World, has added English Premier League football club Manchester City to its client portfolio.

The firm is currently seeking partnerships through the U.K. and overseas across all categories.

"The club already has one of the largest and most loyal fan bases, and the promise of on-pitch success which we all hope will follow last year's takeover means we expect this to grow even further, both domestically and abroad," says Tom Howgate, director of Fluid World. "The club is ambitious in its plans to develop as a major Premier League force, both on and off the pitch. Fluid's role is to ensure the club can capitalize, in licensing terms, on its newly elevated profile, by providing a broad range of great products and services to a wider global audience."

"We are delighted to be working with Fluid in developing our worldwide licensing program," says Duncan Martin, head of retail at Manchester City. "The club is entering a new phase of development and we feel that Fluid will help the club's existing and new licensees make the most of the new opportunities."

Can someone who knows more about retail industry please explain what exactly the above means? What is the purpose of Fluid i.e. what benefits do they offer us? Haven't we got someone already working on developing the retail busines (either within the club or another external agency)? Is it a case of our Arab owners deciding that these guys are the best in business and are the ones to take us forward?

for once it looks like city might be moving in the right direction with these guys.
