"City up there with Barca"?

It's all too vague this kind of talk. We've been involved in nothing to prove we are or we aren't.

In fact the lack of involvement in anything big means we aren't. You have to prove you are something and we've proved nothing at all yet. So, NO!

People keep on about it only being three games but most of my confidence in this team derives from the fact that we have genuinely world class players and these results and performances are a reflection of that. There is no reason to believe that we can't and won't sustain this. We can. I'd go as far as to call it an inevitability. There will be dips though, over the course of a long season.

We're not up there with Barca but it is weird when posters can talk about a potential MCFC V Barca final without getting laughed off the planet. Now that's what I call progress.

Not until we win a few league titles, at least come close to winning champs league, have at least one player listed for world player of the year, etc. So NO.

The most important thing in Barca that is overlooked is they play exactly same players and formtation either its Real Madrid or Manchester United or Malaga. This helps the team to be clear in their roles and playing exactly the same way they do every 50 games makes them more known to the system and player around.

Their is no team in the world who do this. Therefore as soon as they face Barca, they suddenly have to change something and thus makes them weaker than they actually are against other teams.

For instance, just think there is a match between Barca and Man City tomorrow. Pep and his players will play the exact same player and formation they usually do and so are relaxed and concentrate on the specific part of their game to exploit ManCity's weakness. Whereas Mancini and his players has to change their players and formation and they will instantly have more pressure and little time to prepare. Mancini can't play the exact team he played against Tottenham as it will mean Toure and Barry against Xavi, iniesta and Messi in the midfield. Barca will eat you alive if you play with just 2 midfielders. This forces Mancini to play with another DM and ultimately sacrifice one of Nasri/Silva/Aguero/Dzeko and this suddenly makes you weaker in attack.

This is what makes Barca the best team in the world. We forcefully make other teams weaker making them sacrifice their own game plan. Before the match is even played, we make them weaker than they are against other top teams. But we, we just continue and play and suddenly those other 49 games we played looks like training match for us to be more known to the system, players and formations.

This is the reason we almost always has an upperhand against our opponents and add Messi, Iniesta and Xavi(3 players in top 5) which makes it even sweeter for us fans.;)

You mean the same rag team full of kids that mullard Arsenal reserves 8-2.

Personally I didn't think we were fully match fit in the charity shield. I still don't think we're fully match fit yet and I honestly think we've got a couple more gears to go up yet. I'm not saying we're a Barca but fuck me this team is bleeding good and I can see us only getting better as the season goes on.

Barca are a class above - They have a system and the players know exactly what their roll is.

They regularily dominate teams home and away from the first minute.

We have a good team but we need to get hold of games early - Does anyone on here think barca would have let swansea have a good 10 minute spell at the neucamp.

As some one said the real test will come later - Can't remember when the rags last beat Barca. We need to be winning the league and at least in the Euro CL semis before we can even be compared with them.

That said on our day we are probably capable of beating anyone.

No, no, definitively not. Not even close. We've won the FA Cup, for the love of God, that's it.

I'd like to become the best team in England first.

We've proved nothing so far. Played 3 games. Teams need to build momentum. Had we played Spurs a month from now, it could have been a 1-1 2-1 kinda game.

Nothing's won at the stat of the season. And fans getting this hyped up doesn't help.

We were all full of confidence, we were gonna hammer the rags and they thought us a lesson at the start of the season. Lets learn from that, lets not get arrogant and over confident. Take one game at a time and win as many as we can.

there is too much class in that barca side. so much class that is very hard even go close to them

particularly underrated is their back four , that i think is the heart of their game. alves-pique-xxxxx-abidal are fantastic FOOTBALLER very able to avoid the opponents pressing up on the pitch.

ATM we have got a few great strikers and attacking midfielders but our back four isn't good enough for a team that want play a possession game , we are prone to find us in trouble when the opponents press us up.

a part from messi this is IMO our largest difference with barca.

fair comment mate. We are fast gaining momentum to beat any european team on our day i think, but comparing us with Barca at this moment in time is nonsense.

United have been well and truly spanked twice in the final by arguably THE best club side ever assembled, and let's face it, few other teams could make Man-ure look totally shite.

If we did play Barca with our best 11 though, i tyhink we'd give a better account of ourselves than they did, but us as good as Barca? Let's not get carried away with ourselves too soon, but we are getting closer to being at least comparable to them. Meanwhile, it's so good to be a blue right now :)
