City v Boro post match

How the hell have we go to the stage where we're worried about not winning at Burnley? (I vaguely remember we once went there and won 6-0 under Mancini?), then under Pellegrini we lost to them 3-2 away and drew 2-2 at home. How pathetic is that?

It does suggest a mental weakness amongst our player's, they just don't like it up'em!

LOST our last game there AND threw away a two goal lead in the home game.

Where've you been ?

For four of the last six years we've kept the most clean sheets in the Prem. In the two years we didn't keep the most clean sheets, we were within one or two clean sheets of the meanest defence. At the moment we look like conceding every time the opponent builds up pressure. Missing Vinnie's calming influence and ability to clear the ball out when it matters. The lesser teams all employ the same tactics against us and it works.

My point exactly so im not getting or having the hindsight being dished out and the statements of, "Pep does this and we dont concede that goal"

The only cast iron thing to take from yesterdays game again is we take only half our chances and its a cricket score!

Absolutely.
We generate enough chances but are unable to score from them. This is not just a v Boro problem and all our players are guilty.

No wonder pep tries to walk the ball into the net if our players are unable to hit the target never mind score with the majority of their shots on goal.
Surely training addresses this problem or is Pep so obsessed with passing he does not school those entrusted with scoring.

By that logic what's the point of ever making any substitution then? It's stating the bleeding obvious, but all any manager can do is make the best call they can to maximise their chances of either stealing a winner or closing a game out, with no guarantees of anything. I thought yesterday Garcia/Navas was the wrong call

Bravo. I'm not having that Hart wouldn't have saved that, might have been fast but straight at him. Lack of reflex ability - that's what's likely when you put more focus on your footwork.
Joe is playing 'sweeper keeper' stuff these days - he's one of those lucky sorts who can turn his hand to any sport and is actually a decent outfield player. Golden Gloves four years out of six - within a game or two of winning it in the two other years. Better domestic record than De Gea over five years and a better international record than Neuer - five or six clean sheets more in about six less games less. For Germany, Neuer plays behind one of the greatest defensive and midfield units of all time. For England, Hart plays behind a back four and midfield that no-one in world football rates.

I just feel that defensively yesterday, we coped very well for 91 mins and a change wasnt needed.

Pep is guilty of playing the way he has and always will do. Some love it, im one of them and some wont and would like to see him change but imo, it wont ever happen and he has said this himself, he would walk first.

We will improve ive no doubt and his way will win us plenty but the mistakes and odd results we dont like will always be a by product of his style, again, something he freely admits.

Its been said by many. Players need to take responsibility in and around the box and shoot when they have the chance rather than effectively bottling it and looking for an easy pass.

We create enough chances in 90 mins to win several games.

Just watched the game again this morning and as well as that, Kun aside we have zero movement inside the box with nobody making a run. Too easy for defences at this level when you dont even attempt to get in behind or make the runs that will drag defenders out of position.

Fair points so why the fuck does Navas continually go on the outside to the byline and twat it in to nobody ? he's useless I'm sorry, no left foot and never takes a man on in the box ,it was crying out for Sane as at least he's will take a man on.

One good cross every three games isn't good enough for a team like ours.

Yup, and it's early doors yet as well. That said there's a clear problem emerging already that needs addressing. Unbelievable profligacy at one end of the pitch and mental weakness at the other. That's 4 home games now (Sunderland, Everton, Southampton and Boro) where the opposition has barely mustered a dozen shots at goal between them, and had it not been for a freak last minute og. against Moyes' mob we'd have had 4 poxy draws to show for our efforts. We badly miss a physical presence in both boxes against these bus parking bastards, just to give us another option

Completely agree. its interesting that the only side we have beaten comfortably at home in the league is Bournemouth who came to play. Flat back 10 and hit and hope balls/set piece football is the go to game plan against us right now.

Peps system copes with it and beats it every time but the players just have to do their jobs its that simple.

In the next 3 years, plenty will go and plenty will come in that Pep wants and it will be at the required level that wins us so many games we will pinch ourselves, but in the meantime as fans, it will be painful, especially as players leave and the bitterness it will cause.

Its properly weird how many chances we've missed this season. Imagine if Aguero was clinical these past few games we'd be laughing. Right now if the chances somewhat dry up we could be properly fucked, seemingly need 20 odd chances before we finally get one in
