City v Everton Post Match Thread

He sounded devastated when we scored the penalty.

I also noticed that there was plenty of criticism of Hart for the goal we conceded, but barely a mention of Howard for the almost identical equaliser.

Having just watched the highlights again, I think Kompany has to shoulder some responsibility for their opener. The other three defenders were in a straight line, but he seemed to be dawdling three yards behind them, which made playing offside impossible.

Not sure what you mean. Everton's goal was in the 15th minute, he clattered someone in the 22nd and was booked, and was substituted in the 33rd minute. I'm just pointing out that his positioning was suspect at the goal, and that Lescott and Hart seem to be taking all the heat.

Nevertonians seem to be under the impression that they outplayed us for the first half, and only the worst ref ever (fair point) stopped them getting all 3 points. Lots of hostility over on their forums, one might almost describe it.. as...... Bitterness? Lol

Bit late with this but I thought we looked a lot better when we moved to a 433. Aguero dropped to the left and Silva played in behind Negredo. We looked much more solid and retained possession more easily. We seemed to then revert back to 442 for the second half before changing again to 433.

Silva looked well up for it today and got away with a couple of tackles before eventually getting carded. Was his usual majestic self on the ball but was really snapping away at the Everton players.

I thought Fernandinho was awesome in the second half, Barkley and Lukaku were noticeably quiet because Dinho seemed to be everywhere sweeping up.

Negredo's energy up front is a revelation, even in the 90th minute at 3-1 he was still hassling defenders and looking to burst through their back line. Beast.

Loved the support for Hart and thought he had a solid game, will do him the world of good. Lescott was clearly at fault for the goal but he seemed to step up once Kompany went off. Nastasic is just class. Zabba had a few hairy moments early on but was otherwise fine and Kolsrov was a real threat going forward and solid defensively.

Milner never stopped running and his industry almost completely nullified the threat of Baines. An all round very good performance.
But, but, but, Fernandinho's shit and useless and lightweight and can't run and can't tackle and brings nothing to the team.....

Nice assessment kenzie and agree wholeheartedly.

Many posters on here fella dont know a footballer from a zeppelin.

Great to see the Everton fans celebrate like they'd won the league when they scored. A bit like when Arsenal got their goal last year, lol.

My lad made me laugh though as he pointed out their blue flare was still in the air when we got the equaliser!

Last word on this one from me

It was just what the Doctor ordered, it could have been a lot more emphatic than it was the amount of chances we created if we would have scored half of them it would have been a cricket score, and it was good to see us fight back from being a goal down

All in all a good team performance and nice to see Silva play well

Onwards and upwards

It's a bit rough that we have to wait until November 2nd for our next home fixture, that's a huge gap

No way did Everton have the better of the first half.It was fairly even but if Aguero had had his shooting boots on straight they would have gone in at half time 5-1 down!

The second half we mainly bossed it and at 3-1 were playing within ourselves, they were well beaten at the end.

i know we played well when we attack but when we're defending for the ball that seems not go well for us,against Bayern Munich we crumble at the middle allowing them to press in our half like is no ones business.we have been defending like that under Mancini and still persisting under how new manager which i think is being addressed.going for the ball has not being our greatest of qualities in interception, tackling for the ball should be done by all the players not only the back and i plead with the managers to stop tracking back when we are under attack.that has helped in anyway for long now and i hope we do something about these before we lose our focus against the big team this season.

Tonight on motd we start with a team in the bottom half of the league verse the team at the bottom of the league !
Liniker's snide comments pissed me off, "what was the differance between the two sides, apart from all the decisions going against Everton" ! Funny last week it was "good to see" a lineman ignoring a clearly offside goal. Also same thing in the Liverpool/Palace game ie penalty like City's, and Ian Holloway saying " if that was a pen, well we should of had one" yet not a word about it back in the studio !

...and did you hear Lineker's little Freudian slip whilst discussing Un*t*d's win with Hodgson?

Also did you notice Micky Owen's slip re Fenandinho during live commentary ?

Milner "got away with it " when he was yellow carded
Their penalty was surely a better claim than ours
Zabaletta went down very easily
Fourth goal would have been "flattering" to City
Makes you wonder!?!

On the Milner tackle, yes it was a bit reckless or overenthusiastic, however:

Had one foot on the floor so was not out of control.
Came across the attacker to block the ball, did not aim at the attacker himself - the attacker's own momentum contributed to the collision looking so bad when he went over the top of Milner
Actually got the ball first without malicious intent (ok this was partly luck in the way the ball bobbled but second point is still valid.)
The second toffee also choosing to flop over the end of the challenge made it look more like a Bruce Lee sweep than it actually was.

So overall, I would agree a booking was probably fair but any more, unjustified.

Was that something about Paulinho?

What i can't understand is how, at some point in the second half one of the Everton defenders hammered the ball back to Howard, who picked the ball up and play went on.

How is this not a free kick? Negredo (I think) was going mental.

I know I had been drinking but I didn't think I was THAT pissed

I remember that too.

Think it was Jagielka who played it back to him from the halfway line and he just picked it up.

It was so ridiculous I actually saw the funny side of it!

I was watching the game streamed and I'm fairly sure I know the incident you mean. On TV it was clear it came off the City player who was closing him down, so wasn't a backpass, but from the reaction of the crowd I could tell that many in the crowd couldn't see that.

Commentator on MOTD is such a rag , it's ridiculous.

INCREDIBLY biased, it's not even subtle this time.

Just watched this now - embarrassing.

Whats his name, awful in the extreme.

The good thing is at City you can have a chat with the commentators if in CB 3,I have done it a few times,Andy Gray,Beags,Motson in the past.Always good fun.

Would be nice to look out for this fellah next time hes with us and ask him the basis of some of his comments.
