City v Rags - Derby Day!!!

Can’t wait for the match. This will get us back on track. Rags are just hilariously bad, have been for a while, but recently Onana started dropping clangers again, adding another dimension to their miserable displays. Hope we test him a lot, and press him when he’s on the ball.

To think they bought the bastard specifically because he’s allegedly good on the ball, and now they’re conceding as he passes the ball to the opposition.

I haven’t felt this confident for a derby in a while weirdly. We’ve had our problems but they’re 13th for a reason.

Every single person I know .. all proper mancs .. never calls them rags (call them a lot worse mind).

Not really heard the term until I came on here. A bit like them supposedly calling us 'Berts'. Never ever heard that in real life as well. Think it's an internet thing...
Im a proper manc and all my mates call them rags..Used to be Munchens when we were young and daft to know better in the 80's..I started calling them the odd mob now (thanks Big Steve that one has stuck in our house)
Call them what you want though..I fuckin hate them...Shithouse scum cunts!!
Ahh thats better.

I've called them the rags since picking it up from king of the kippax fanzine about 1992. My whole family does. Hate to say United, always say the rags. Just like saying the swamp.
I think I may first have heard it listening to James H Reeve on his phone in show circa mid to late 80s

Berts, magoos, bitters, citeh, I have been called that many a time by local non match and match going rags I've known and at work and tbh was more common when I worked the hotels in town in the 90s (pre internet).

Though since the mid 00s, Berts has been co-opted by many "legacy blues" and used as a term of pride and nostalgia for our resilience and loyalty in the worst of times.

Will be honest I would say 75% of berts I have been going with use the term rags the rest never have and prefer such as nited, manure or simply them cunts in trafford, 30 yrs ago most would have used the M word at some point, which is thankfully now no more.

Always amused by non Manc rags calling us Citeh.
They don't get the irony of taking the piss out of the very accent of the area where their own team comes from.
They never refer to their own team as ''U-ni-ed''

Most of the rags and scousers I know know very little about football culture and banter, having rarely attended they mimic and Parrot everything negative they hear about City.

The peak of their existence was signified by the wet faced gong licker Beckham and the fat actor kuntana, not much of a legacy really.
