City v Shakhtar Post Match

What’s going on with Jesus at the moment? I took him out of my fantasy as he seems to be having a bit of average form. If he had bagged those few chances he created for himself against West Brom, we could be taking about his magnificent form, such are the fine margins. I haven’t seen the match btw as I am in Asia and it was on very late for me. I am just going on a few posts I have seen and the fact he was subbed.
Noticed this too, Jesus coming off at 50' is no coincidence. Pep trying to tell Jesus that he needs to step up his game like Sane or he will get limited chances. Recently, he only played full 90 mins in the cup game against west brom.

Shaktar will have surprised a few tonight, but not me, I thought they would be a quality side, and they were, so its all the more pleasing to win, with a clean sheet, after a not very good first half by City.

We played some great football after the break though, and we could easily have scored 5 or 6 again in the second half.

Shaktar had a great game plan for me, and defended very high, not allowing us any space, and we forgot to play balls over the top in the first half, they didn't create a great deal in the end, but they looked very dangerous on the break, and moved the ball as well as we do (in fact in the first half better than we did).

Overall that was a professional CL performance, we were patient, we defended well, we did the job in the end, and there weren't really many scares.

We also have a great keeper, who gives confidence to the defenders, and can put us on the attack quickly, he could be our most inspired signing, both for now and the future.

Its pretty much nailed on that if you are going to seriously challenge for honours your keeper needs to be on top of his game week in week out.

All our signings over the summer have settled in well it seems and our keeper is top of that list notwithstanding Mendy might be unavailable for a while.

Lets hope not anyway and get some good news on that front in the next day or two as injuries to key players looks like the only thing that could hold us back this season.

Most important thing was another clean sheet, how many minutes have we gone without conceding now? Was there ever such a stretch last season?

Walker is immense, it's true, but you have to give all credit to Ederson because the transformation in players like Stones and Otamendi from the days of Bravo/Willy is night and day. That comes from the confidence of having a world class stopper behind you.

All in, a great win for City. Two cracking goals. Another club record broken. A number of stunning individual performances from now world class players. And the clean sheet, of course. Can't ask for more than that.

About 200 minutes...

Haven't seen anyone mention Jesus. I know he's scored a few this season, but he hasn't looked good, and tonight he went missing.

Great result and good, professional performance.

Always liked Delph and pleased to see him becoming a big part of the squad.
