Southampton were a very good team, at the end of the day it came down to them being naive and having a lack of fitness. That is why invest so much time in character profiling these days. There isn't a lot more to it than that.

So where's the confusion?

Well you basically said we need to exert ourselves in these games. We didn't in the first half and came out on top 3-1. But you just know in the second half it would have happened if it needed to.

Don't you think first half could have been so different though? The pen was a bit dubious, edin went over easily, the second was miles offside, if it wasn't for those 2 goals , it's a totally different game

We never got going at all, I don't want to see that every week cos we won't get 3 goals playing like that

Despite the result that first half was fucking shit, so jot confusing really

Playing the way we play we will always get goals like that, whether it be wrongly given penalties, offsides, or whatever. Brendan Rogers got asked the other day about how many penalties Liverpool had been given this season and whether he thinks he has the rub of the green or not. He said no, I had exactly the same thing at Swansea, it's the way I like to play.

Unfortunately although it's hard to stomach, it's why our friends across the road used to have all those decisions for them. It's easy to pinpoint them when you are on the defending side and 9/10 have been called correctly.

I'm pretty sure you won't have noticed the irony in this bit so I'll just smile and leave you to compose your next 'reply'.

it may appear irrelevant to you , because you do not possess the intelligence to digest the comparison , the term "hammered" was mentioned and was dealt with by the bayern munich game , but your smug reply , which actually concludes nothing , appears to be your forte.

if a team is "dominated" , they have been out played , resulting in desperate defending , a very busy goalkeeper etc , your poor literacy is the problem , you seem to have plenty of time on your hands , perhaps you find a more suitable description in the oxford dictionary , and your concern is appreciated

Barcelona not a pressing side , absolute garbage , when Pep Guardiola managed Barca he gave them 15 seconds to retrieve the ball after losing possession this is enabled by "pressing" ,and they havent changed , this really sums up your lack of football knowledge ,but i wont worry about you , it would appear to be patronising

the irony of my reply ? when arrogance is instigated , it will be treated with the contempt it deserves , still smiling ?

From ear to ear yep.

I'm interested - how are you defining 'hammered'?

Domination doesn't have to result in desperate defending or a busy goalkeeper. It can also be about possession or stopping the opponent creating chances, or just simply being the better side for the majority of the game. For example the utd v bayern game ended 1-1 but bayern completely dominated despite utd's goalkeeper not being overly busy . When we beat utd 1-0 in the title season we totally dominated but utd weren't scrambling round in defensive chaos all the time.

So Barcelona are a shining example of a pressing side because they employed a 15 second strategy?

You talk some serious nonsense but just stop and think how pathetic that sounds. It takes seconds to score a goal, but Barcelona are ok to allow teams to have it for 15 seconds???

Give over.

bloody hell its brian clough !!!!!, "it only takes a second to score a goal" ,your stupid reply about barcelona is nonsensical , guardiola instructed his team to retrieve the ball in less than 15 seconds , it is called pressing , you dont have the graciousness to admit it , when you are completely wrong , you are boring the tits off me sunshine , if you want to continue your little keyboard war PM me , and i will deal with you , in due course , ive better things to do than reply to opinionated no nowts .

We were terrible though we can't play that way if we don't have the ball or have any real movement, which is why they dominated

We didn't take the game to them as we didn't play at all for 40 mins, just shows what we can do when we click as we did in the second half, which is what I meant

It's jot that we were trying anything different, there were just too many passengers and mistakes first half, and you can't do that against a team that presses and keeps the ball, was my point

They were well and truly knackered as soon as the second half kick off whistle blew though is what I am trying to say :)

We scored 3, hit the bar when it was easier to score and Nasri missed a good opportunity and we were terrible?

Soton played a very high risk game by playing a very high defensive line which gave them possession, but also left them very exposed when we got behind them.

We played much better in the 2nd half, but we weren't terrible in the 1st half. We just struggled to cope with Soton's unusual tactics, and when we did we scored

Maybe, I just thought we got it spot on and smashed them second half, we looked knocked in parts which is more worrying! Hope we start like we did against arsenal, against the dippers

You missed the part where Dzeko should have squared it to Yaya for a tap in but instead ended up kicking more in the direction of our goal than theirs. The countless 1on1s we had through Yaya and Negredo.
