City v Watford Post Match Thread

Pellegrini didn't get the performance he expected from the eleven he put out and has stated as much. He trusted the players to give a better performance and they let him down. However it's no coincidence that the three centre backs all play better alongside Kompany.

DeMichelis lacks pace but so does Lescott and Nastasic, they all rely on their brains to get in correct position to defend against counter attacks.

Hart may have had a better chance with saving both goals today. He's a better shot stopper than Pantilimon and gets down quicker.

Rodwell and Richards lack match fitness and yet were playing in two of the most important positions for our team today. We know what Fernandinho brings to the team alongside Yaya. He covers a lot of Yaya's forward forays but today Rodwell didn't offer the protection that Fernandinho does.

Yaya lost the ball too easily for Watford's second goal. He has stated in the past that he struggles to raise his game for the "easier" games and I am not sure that Pellegrini is aware of this yet.

With the personnel changes in the second half the whole dynamic of the team changed. Lescott looked more settled next to Kompany, MDM held the midfield better than Rodwell, Yaya picked his game up and Zabaleta helped Navas more on the right flank. Jovetic looked much better on the left than Lopes.

The fans need to get real regarding Lopes, the lad is still only very young and there are always some fans who want us to produce a superstar but are then disappointed when the player doesn't quite reach the heights we expect. I think we all forget too soon that our last great hopes we soon started slating until they were sold. Richards is the last home made product we have and he isn't quite attaining the heights we expect, before this it was SWP, Ireland, Barton and Michael Johnson, non of these became the world beater we wanted, but we all expected too much from them and then started calling them when they didn't make the grade.

We got away with this game and got the result we needed. I still think we lack a bit of squad depth, mainly due to certain players having injuries and loss of form. We are also in a transitional period and Pellegrini is still getting his ideas across to the players, the fact we are still in with a shout of winning four trophies says a lot for how well the players and manager are coping with the demands from the fans and board for success. It wasn't quite the result or performance we expected today but it is another lesson learnt for the players and manager and we came through it with success.

Not sure what's wrong with expecting a lot tbh. Especially now. They have to be genuine world class to be good enough for us now, and although Richards, Rodwell & Lopez may all be either decent prem league standard players, or in Lopez case likely to develop into one, it doesn't mean they'll be good enough for us (they aren't, based on the evidence)

We can all see where our squad needs improving.

I enjoyed it today. Thought zaba and kompany were excellent.

I like to think of the first half today as a bit lethargic with football not up to the usual standard,
rather than shit and an embarrassment.

Shite first half. Worst I've seen for a few years come to think of it. Better second half and Navas impressed me.

Fear for Micah and Rodwell. In the small chances they've had this year they've not impressed Pellegrini and not played well. I like Rodwell a lot but he needs to find his role. I want him to succeed at City.

Re: Micah. Don't think there's a City fan alive who wants him to go. But in the last few games he's played he's been shite, in all honesty. He was piss poor defensively today and out of position. I really want him to stay at City but he needs to get his head down big time now and stay fit.

Best to forget about the game today. Nobody will remember the performance and only the result.

Billy big bollocks performance in the 1st half , just thought we had to turn up to win , different side in the 2nd half , loved the "2-0 and you fucked it up" chant , (and no yooonited songs from the watford fans , like last season) , Pellegrini cocked up the team selection , but he has the ability to change it and win a game is encouraging , home tie next please.

In 11-12 Sergio played 48 games and scored 30. In this season he has half as many games and 25 goals. Clinical. I would also like to mention Stevan seems a great guy to be in our squad judging by the post match interview.

ay up even some fucker who's swallowed a dictionary has popped up.

let me put you right.

1, he rotated too much.

2, he admitted it on local radio, saying "it was a disaster and I wish I could change 11 players"

now unless they don't speak the queens fucking English in wurzel land how can those comments be contextulized wrongly?

oh and thanks for the English lesson.

Like I said before. Talking out of your arse as usual. If you can't make the distinction between a genuinely substandard team selection and one that should have been comfortably strong enough to defeat 'B' list opposition, but simply played poorly, then you can't be helped. You can keep huffing and puffing if you want, but to be honest you've worn me out already.
Contextualise - to place in a particular context [OED]. And it's "queens" with a capital Q and an apostrophe. And you're welcome.......

I have decided you know nothing about our manager.

nothing about our club

and nothing about football.

just sayin like.

Ha ha, now I know you're wumming! I mean having spent the last 8 months bellyaching about the loss of Mancini at every opportunity, whilst the rest of us spent it endorsing the appointment of Pellegrini, you have to be, right?!
