City v Watford Post Match Thread

Yes, as whether you picked the right side is determined almost wholly by the result, as Dave alluded to
Like Ob I think you are looking at things too simply.

Yesterday it appeared the plan was to give Micah and Jack 45 mins, otherwise why even bother with having zabs and vinny on the bench. The plan was always to give Jovetic 30 mins The fact we were 2 down at HT didnt appear to me to have any bearing on our subs. That VK and Zabs were warming up all ht shows it was preplanned and part of Pellers succesful rotation planning.

DD posted earlier in the thread about the need for rotation and I fully agree with his post

Very good win yesterday . I thought we were on for a disaster like 2009 when Forrest beat us 0-3 . Great move by Pellergrini to bring Vinny and Pablo on and take Jack and Micah off .

If we beat spurs and are in the fifth round of the cup then the manager's rotation worked. That's it. There is nothing more to be added.

So ultimately your point is because we won the game then we can't question the initial teamsheet that took us 2-0 down?

Because that's pretty daft.

He got his opening team wrong. We know he got his team wrong because we went 2-0 to a Championship side at home until HT.

He got his substitutions right. We know he got his substitutions right because we won the game 4-2 and turned around a 2-0 deficit.

I think there are undiscovered tribes in the Amazonian basin who would pick jovetic ahead of Lopes, vinny ahead of lescott and fernandinho ahead of Rodwell in an ideal world. But it isn't an ideal world. It's a world where we have to play a fully rested spurs in four days. So you put out a weak team that you hope is good enough, and if they prove not good enough, you put your big guns on the bench and hope they rescue you.

Which is what happened. And vinny and zab only played 45 minutes so should be fine for spurs. Silva, Milner and fernandinho didn't play at all so definitely will be fine. Sergio is coming back so he will be fine etc.

As a manager you tread that line line. And if we get a result at spurs he got his selections bang on overall, because we got the two wins. You can only genuinely criticise Saturday 's selection if it impacts Wednesdays result.

I absolutely don't believe that we'd purposely put Kompany on the bench to replace Rodwell by pushing Demi into midfield for only the second time in his City life. Especially when Ferdi was on the bench

And you can't on the one hand claim that the subs were planned out in advance then on the other hand claim that the manager's subs were purposely game-changing.

Either he planned it in advance, which I don't believe as there were more logical options for this, or he made a spur of the moment decision that changed the game.

League Cup final, Check!

FA cup 5th round, Check!

2nd in Premier league, Check!

Last 16 CL, Check!

Last 19 games, won 17, drawn 2, lost 0, Check!

Only mistake was you logging on to post that shit!

Love it when people who've not seen the game quote stats about previous games as if it's relevant.

Go on then, tell me why I didn't see the game?

I love when someone like you desperately tries to find something to moan about.

Previous games results are more than relevant given you claim every week what a fuck up he has made despite us continually winning games of football.

Again, only mistakes being made are you logging on and failing to engage your brain before fingers!

So did you see the game?

I'm not moaning, I'm being realistic. People are absolutely raving about this season like Pellegrini has completely turned around the fortunes of a struggling side! He spent 100m and we're 2 points better off than last season! 4 points WORSE off than the season before!

If you'd bothered to read my posts, I've said I'm enjoying all the goals as much as anyone this season, but let's not start sucking each others dicks just yet. Pellegrini could still end up being the new Kevin Keegan.

You are not the first person to make a comment along these lines but to liken Pellegrini to Keegan really does insult Pellegrini's ability.
Bloody hell we have a better manager in Pellergrini than Kevin Keegan . Pellergrini will win trophies Keegan wouldn't win us anything . Look at Newcastle all that money and no trophies under Keegan .

Well the similarity to me is that they both play attacking, attractive football that produces lots of goals. Keegan fell short in winning the league because he was tactically naive. I hope Pellegrini doesn't fall in to the same trap, and learns from the mistakes he's made so far this season.
