This is looking more and more plausible by the day.... did goal.com really write breaking news? I might have to take back all the bad things I've said about goal.com.

I said earlier in the thread, Greg Stobart = good journalist. He gets good information.
Can't discount Wayne Veysey either who put up a good article on the cavani situation today. Their editors have done a lot to revamp that site in the past 1-2 years. They have some very reliable guys on there and not just for the English have either

Yep Wayne Veysey is usually accurate as well, actually there isn't any journalist I can think of that gets better information about Spurs.

Pellegrini's Madrid team got 96 points with this front 6 for the most part: Diarra, Alonso, Van Der Vaart, Kaka, Ronaldo, Higuain. But if he makes these 5 signings being touted I would say the team he will have at City would be better on paper actually.

Neither am I I have only gone of the youtube clips and what everyone else has said but until you see them in the flesh in a game of any real note or over a season it is pretty difficult to assess whether Navas and Fernandhino will "guarantee" the sucess, Ifiwasarichfan has his opinion, he might well be right, who is to say, I hope he isn't for all I know these two are worldbeaters and if we sign Cavani he is just another Uraguayan Andy Carroll. :-)

Cheers Rammy

Probably went a bit over the top with the line about "battling Spurs" for 5th and these guys could well be the missing pieces of the Jigsaw but we all watch a lot of Champions League Games these days and everybody knows who the real big stars are. Two or three of them in the key positions we all agree on (Winger,Striker,Driving Midfielder) and we should be pushing the Bayerns and the Barca's.

With the exception of Cavani (and he isn't here yet) it looks like we are playing percentages but paying top dollar for the privelage.

Incidentally,Blue 2112 is arguing a similar line right now on the Frenandinho Medical thread.

I think you are missing something - we have the spine of the side which is Hart, Kompany, Nastasic, Yaya, Silva and Aguero - that 6 is completely world class, although it could be argued that Nastasic is on his way to world class and not there yet. In addition we have arguably the best full back pair in Zaba and Clichy. We also have Barry, Milner, Nasri and plenty of other quality players. What we lack is pace and width in attacking midfield areas, and that has been addressed by Jesus Navas, and potentially additionally if we get Isco. Up top we have great strikers and we may well be adding Cavani. Fernandinho will add some pace and athleticism and fizz into central midfield. What is the problem here?

Add Thiago to that and it gets even better !

I have no problems with the signings whatsoever, for once we are getting them early and if you believe the so called experts we are getting round pegs that fit in round holes who our new manager wants and believes will make us a side capable of challenging on all fronts. The point I was making is that although I believe that, doesn't mean everyone has to and contrary view is just as valid until we actually see how they play and fit in the team. I want them all like a tin of Ronseal, does what it says on the tin. :-)

Thats a good post as well. Especially the bit about round pegs for round holes. I still think better players might have been available but maybe too many "Galactico's" means too many Ego's.

Finally just for Rammy. Stop nicking my lines ! - I used the "Ronseal, does what it says on the Tin" last week when Madrid were allegedly sniffing around Aguero !

Apologies to all if I have come across as a mard arse or a moaner; I am usually the most positive of Posters.
