I bloody hope so, but even if the rags suceed they will still have to beat Jose or Pep and I think either of those two have the edge on Baconface.

We've got a pretty good away record in the CL. Granted, last time we lost away was in Germany, but I'm not one for superstitions. The worst thing we can do is underestimate Schalke - they turned over the reigning European champions...twice. Tough game, but a 2-1 loss or a draw wouldn't be too bad tomorrow night.

I know we play tonight, didn't think CL games played on days when prem games were running always thought Rags played on Tuesday or Wednesday!!!!!! not that I give a shit anyway.

The run Schalke are on in the Champions League is a bit like Monaco about 6 years ago, hopefully if their run ends it's in the Final and not in the next 2 games!!

Come on Raul and the Gerries!

You're both only competing for the right to get dicked by Barca/Madrid in the Final anyway.

On its day, any team can beat any other. Of course us/Schalke won't be favourites if we reach the final, but you never know...

Ha ha. I'll have my Doritos and cider at the ready to watch you try.......

Kinda want United to win, good for English football and all that... pahahaha, nah I just want to see them get ripped a new one by Madrid/Barca at Wembley :D

the thing is united would'nt know a tough fixture if they saw one, every season the CL is manfactured for them to progress, they ALWAYS draw the worst team in the tournement, any tourement but especially the CL.they always play the away leg first too. the whole thing is set up for tv revenue and an arsenal v porto final will not meet the fiancial level that uefa are looking for so refs and linesmen are intructed, as are the draw makers to ensure the scum reach the final.
fuck me platini is that shit scared of us and the likes of spurs spoiling the party they even bring in the fair play shit.
soon as we desrupt normal service a new "seeding" system will come in where as if you have fluked a win (or in fact two)in the final you go straight to the semi's just in case you get knocked out early. you will of course still get payments from any tv revenue so you can keep within the guidlines of the fair play rules,

Before passing opinion, has anyone even watched Schalke this season?

Granted they're not the same prospect in the CL as in the league, but their defence is rather poor.

Watched em a few times it'll be tight! But ur lot should turn em over by a couple of goals over 2 legs

Err didn't we just get Chelsea (current PL champions and FA cup holders and 2nd in the league) and if you win your group you automatically get the away leg out of the way first, as for getting Shalke well just in case you missed it the draw for the semis was done at the same time as the quarters but then I guess we're to blame for Inter getting dicked 2-5 in the San Siro.

-- Mon Apr 25, 2011 5:41 pm --

Cappello for once made a decent point in that the Germanys month long winter break gives them an advantage over leagues that don't, also factor in they have a decent team and a genuine top class in finisher in Raul even if he is 33, this will be tight.
